Szczesny, Roma

Here's another Roma repaint: Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny!

It was pretty simple, as repaints go, but in the plain kits, details, ie the shirt number font being spot on, really make the difference!

One of the hardest things with this one was making sure I'd spelt 'Szczesny' correctly!

Here's a pic:

Micro Maradona, Spurs!

I've done a Prostar version of this figure before, but here's the micro!

It's a tricky little kit to paint, especially on a smaller figure, but I think it ended up pretty well!

In case anyone doesn't know the story behind this figure, El Diego played in the Ossie Ardiles testimonial game for Spurs in the mid 80s.

Here's the photo evidence!

Richards, Man City

Here's a repaint that I was happy to do!

I like when the requested kits have some kind of significance... I'd like to say that the significance here is that he scored his first City goal in it... but I remember it more for him swearing in a live TV interview afterwards!!

That's about it for this one!

Charles/Collins Testimonial part 2!

I first started on the Charles/Collins testimonial set of figures quite a while back, with Rush, Sheridan and Batty here, and a couple of different Platini figures here.

I've finally finished the project (with the figures Corinthian produced) by painting these 2 beauties!

Some truly great players lined up for the Leeds XI that day! It must have been a welcome relief for the fans, who were watching a side languishing in the second tier at the time...

The Leeds XI beat an Everton XI including the likes of Mountfield and Southall by 3 goals to 2.

According to the reports I've read, Platini and Rush, who bagged a hat-trick, were the players to watch!

Here's the full set of figures:

'Waldock', Darlington

Here's one of the kind of completely custom figures I occasionally get asked to do as a gift.

Someone contacted me to do a 40th birthday present for a mate of his. He'd already chosen the lookalike figure himself, so all we had to discuss was the kit, the name and number, and the name on the base!

He went for the Darlington kit warn in the FA Trophy final... I think!

And don't worry if you don't know much about the figures; I can help you find a suitable lookalike!

O'Neil, Celtic

I knew of Brian O'Neil from his time at Preston North End, but had no idea that he played for Celtic until this figure was part of an order from my Celtic regular!

He chose yet another away kit, tho this one was certainly a bit tamer than some of the other recent requests!

Brian himself liked the repaint enough to retweet it, and reply saying that he had owned the shirt in his youth!

Armfield, Blackpool

Here's another bonafide Blackpool legend!

One of those times when a really simple kit ended up looking great!

I included a pic of Armfield at the time (above) because I chose the 'lookalike' figure, and I think it's a pretty good likeness!

The guy who bought this recently told me that he showed this to Jimmy, who liked it! His exact words (as posted on the Corinthian Facebook group) were: "He loved it, and could even tell me what season it was based on!"

The season, incidentally, was 1955-56!

El Shaarawy, Roma

Apologies for the lack of posts in a while; I've finally got the internet in my new flat! Anyway, to business!

Here's my repaint of Roma's Stephan El Shaarawy.

I hadn't done any Roma figures for in while, but, like London buses, two requests came along at once! Keep your eyes on the blog for my Szczesny repaint!

This one was quite straightforward! As with my previous Roma figures, probably the hardest part was mixing the right colour for their very distinctive shirt!

I think I got it about the same as the last figures that this customer ordered from me!

If you've read my blog before, you'll know that I'm quite a fan of shirts without a sponsor!

Here's a pic of Shaarawy to compare the repaint to:

Chiriches, Spurs

I haven't done many like this before; just one, I think. I'll explain what I mean after the picture!

It's a Soccerstarz figure, but it's a 'lookalike'.

Being as Soccerstarz are still being produced, I've not been asked to do many paint jobs converting one player into another. People are generally content with the personnel released, even if they want new kits painted on them.

Quite a lot of Spurs Soccerstarz have been released... but that wasn't enough for one of my regulars!!

He noticed that the Mark Noble figure beared enough of a resemblance to Vlad Chiriches for this repaint to be born!

What do you think, good likeness?

Barrett, Man City

Here's Earl Barrett in his Man City days... to be honest, I didn't know he played for them until I got this request!

One of the problems about 1980s figures is the lack of squad numbers! The guy who requested this wasn't sure what number Barrett wore for City.

I did my best to find out; I even tweeted Barrett himself, but to no avail!

We agreed on number 2, which he also wore at Villa!

Here's the shirt I used to help me with the repaint (from the excellent Bluemoon site)

Newton Jr, Leeds

Having done Neymar Junior in Leeds kit before, why not Newton Junior?!

These 2 figures were ordered by a dad, and designed to look like his son.

He sent me a picture, and I went back with a few possible 'lookalike' figures, before he selected this one.

He then chose the kits, shirt numbers and names on the bases that he wanted, for a fully customised set of figures as gifts for his son!

Sheringham, Forest

Being as he's quite a common figure, I've done a few Sheringhams; Portsmouth, Colchester and now Nottingham Forest:

The others all ended up selling on ebay, but this was my first requested Sheringham!

I felt it ended up quite well.

Regular readers will know how much I appreciate an accurate shirt number font(!) and I was also happy with the pinstripes!

Here's a picture of Teddy in his Forest days to compare it to:

Speedy Messaging!

Well, loyal readers, here's a bonus second post of the day!

Yeah, it's Sunday, and I'm bored. But that boredom has helped me stumble across something that makes me want to start talking about 'the wonders of modern technology' in only a semi-ironic manner!

If you didn't already know, I have a Facebook page dedicated to my repaints, which you can find by clicking here.

If clicking links is all a bit 2015 for your liking though, you can now get send a message straight to my Corinthian Repaint Facebook inbox by scanning the image below in the Messenger app!

Pretty nifty, eh?!
...
I feel like I should say now, please only use this if you want to send me messages regarding football figures and repaints.

Any pesterers... if that's a word, will be blocked!

Thanks!

Thom, Celtic

The Celtic fan that regularly orders from me just keeps coming up with more and more bizarre looking kits!!

I won't complain about it though- I enjoy a challenge, and a chance to paint a different kit for the first time!

Here's Andy Thom in a lovely example of 1990s away kit asymmetry!

Funnily enough, kits like this are often easier than ones that are symmetrical.

Stripes, or hoops for example, and the fact that they need to be the same width, can be more troubling to a perfectionist like me than kits like this one!

... I found this image in an article entitled: 6 of the best... Worst Old Firm kits!
