Jarman, Lincoln United

Lincoln United; there's a club I didn't expect to receive an order for (or know exited, to be fair!)

I had a chat over Twitter with a YouTuber who wanted to do a giveaway for his channel... if I remember rightly, he was doing a Football Manager series about Lincoln United, and wanted a figure of one of the key men.

So, this happened:

Quite a nice simple repaint. I actually did 2 of them, and I think I'm right in saying one of them went to Jarman himself!

... He definitely did- I've just searched on YouTube to find the video, in case you want to watch. You can find it by clicking here.

Incidentally, I didn't get much extra exposure by the guy who's channel it is saying "I had this made by a lad on twitter... I can't remember his name!" *Laughing emoji*

Leeds 2019-20 Funkos

It's Leeds and Spurs that I've got most pictures of in my repaint folder, that remain un-uploaded to this blog, so lets get a few Leeds up today!!

A growing area for me is Funko Pop repaints, so here are 3 of the Leeds ones I've done so far:

While I don't collect these myself, they've certainly grown on me recently! For those of you that don't know, Funko only make figures for a select band of clubs- Liverpool, Man City, Man U, PSG etc

So, for these, obviously I had to repaint the kits, but also had to customise in other ways too. Fortunately, fleeinding a lookalike is not as difficult as it is with corinthians- basically all you need is the right hairstyle!!

The other changes I made with this (aside form the kits and boots!!) are:
Ayling; added beard, slight moustache adjusment!
Alioski: Full skin colour change, added hair highlights!
Dallas: added beard, adjusted hair for that fade!

I'm very happy with all of them!

Segers, Forest

Did you know that Hans Segers played for Forest?

Neither did I, before this repaint!

I only remember him playing for Wimbledon and sitting on the bench at Spurs!

This was a nice simple repaint, but there is something quite charming about plain green keeper shirts from the 80s! I've done a few of them now, David Seaman, in his pre-Arsenal life springs to mind.

Argentina x3

Some Argentina figures; why not?!

I've said several times on this blog that I think simpler, retro kits have a habit of upstaging more complex repaints, which may explain why I love the Maradona repaint so much!!

I've mentioned the bases done like this on other figure before (Atleti, I think) and, while I wouldn't do it for my own collection, I think it does look pretty good on these Argentina figures.

The customer who these were for had already painted these bases before he sent them to me! I think they are remodels too! I think he's one for whom the body poses, and whether they are long or short sleeved, is quite important.

You'll notice the kits are all slightly different... I think they were chosen as they were all worn for major tournaments. I'm not sure which tho!!

Razor Ruddock, West Ham

Razor Ruddock on a Friday, why not!

Another of those that I had a spare of and just fancied painting. That seems to have become a bit of a theme for the week!

I was pleased with the details around the collar on this one!

Anyway, at time of writing, this is still available! Give me a holler if you'd like to buy it!

Platt, Sampdoria

As the title suggests, here's David Platt in Sampdoria kit:

Like the Di Matteo one the other day, this came about when I had a bit of time on my hands, and had a look through my spares, and found several David Platt figures!

I'd seen Villa repaints of him before; I'd done Forest and England ones myself, so had a think about who else he'd represented.

When Sampdoria came to mind, I thought their iconic kit would make a pretty cool repaint! And I think it did!

Real Madrid number 7s

Today feels like a good day to add a couple of Real Madrid number 7s!

These 2 certainly raise the bar a bit from my only previous Real microstar, which was Thomas Gravesen!!

Sunday 19 April 2020

Di Matteo, Lazio

Just a quick little post before I go to bed.

Only one pic tonight, and it's Di Matteo in Lazio colours.

This was back in the days when I had time to just pic a figure out of my box of spares, and do a repaint that took my fancy.

In case you don't know, this Di Matteo is one of a promotional set of figures (including Vieira, Seaman... and some others) that are made for the phrase 'dime a dozen'! Which was one of the reasons for doing this. The others? I hadn't done it before, and I thought there would probably be someone, somewhere that would want it for their collection.

(I was right)

Another little bit of trivia about this one... I had to watch a YouTube video of Lazio in the 90s to find out what shirt number to put on it!!

Wales Subbuteo XLs

I haven't posted any Subbuteo XL figures here for a while! (Though I have put some WIP ones on my instagram; click here if you want to follow!)

I've also realised as I went to add the labels to this post that the previous posts I intended to tag "Wales" were tagged "Wales. Northern Ireland", so that's something to sort out... later!

Here are some Wales figures, that I think are in chronological order!

Gotta say, I was very pleased with these! That pattern on the bottom one is a particular highlight!
...
I feel that I need to point out that her arrived with me with 2 left hands!!

More subbuteo XLs soon- I've got a few pics waiting to be posted here, including Man Utd and ... Newport County!

Friday 17 April 2020

City Full backs

A pair of figures that can be categorised as Man City players, in the same kit, as Full backs, and as former Arsenal!

Here are Sagna and Clichy:

I remember at the time of doing these thinking that it was remarkable how much more Clichy looked like him after I painted on the beard!

It also bothered me slightly that Sagna didn't have hair like this when playing for City! I only ever once tried 'shaving' a figure's head, and it didn't end well... in fact it didn't end at all! It's still half finished in my box of spares!

Custom Funkos

Here are a couple of Custom Funkos done as presents for people, as I recall.

Both of the customers provided pictures of the kits and team badges, and then gave extra details, such as boot design and shirt numbers

I think they look pretty good! Both buyers were happy with them too!

Holme Originals

Back again, and just enough time to write a blog post before (Lockdown cliche incoming) taking my banana bread out of the oven!

I've previously posted about making Holme FC figures for Charity, and here are another set that I made... must be pushing a year ago now.

These are all effectively Football Manager Regen players, featured in a series on the YouTube Channel: Lollujo. Check it out- honestly, watching someone else play Football Manager takes a lot of the stress out of it!!

The series these players featured in was based much more on story telling than tutorials on how to play the game, and all of them came through the Holme youth academy, and featured prominently in a run from tier 8 up through the divisions. Along with Mick Powell and Anthony Harris, they were dubbed "The Holme Originals"!

Anyway, the figures themselves are loosely based on the FM regen pics, (so, right hair and right skin colour!!)

The sponsor on the shirt is The National Autistic Society (who the money from the ebay sales went to) and you may have realised that the design on the third shirt is also based on the NAS logo.

If you were wondering about the number font, Fernandes and Phillips got more game time in the EFL, while Morris was one of the few good enough to cut it in the Prem!!

Overall, these figures, along with those of Powell and Harris, raised over £150 for chairty!

Seaman, Birmingham

I seem to have found a theme: Seldom painted teams... and Goalkeepers in them!

It's a theme that isn't going to last long, just til the end of this post, actually, as tomorrow, I'm going to get going again on the posts where I can include 3 or 4 pictures.

Anyway, here's David Seaman, in his Birmingham days:

I did this one as a pretty simple figure just for ebay... then a regular of mine (and goalkeeping enthusiast!) bought it, and asked if I would do the gloves before I sent it!

So I did.

That's just Peterborough I've not done Seaman in now, from his pre-Arsenal career! Maybe I will, just to finish the set! It'll probably just be a plain green shirt, after all!

Friday 10 April 2020

Schwarzer, Boro

I thought I'd keep the run of teams I've not done many figures for going, by posting my only Middlesbrough figure so far:

I think I'm right in saying that this is a remodel (tho not one done by me!) as one of my customers who knows what he wants when it comes to body poses put the head from a Fan Favourite figure onto a prostar body.

It was a relatively straightforward repaint tho; the black trim elevating it a little!

Thursday 9 April 2020

Gazza, Burnley

I've done quite a few Gazza repaints over the years, in various Spurs kits, England, and even a Leeds kit (from a testimonial game)

This is only my second Burnley repaint tho; the first being Ian Wright.

I think (I'm not certain, I made this a while ago, and it doesn't show up great in the pic) I made the hair brown, rather than black on this one. Tbh, I never remember Gazza having black hair, in spite of the first corinthian of him!

I didn't really know much about Gazza's Burnley spell, so I've had a quick google, and apparently he only played 6 games for them, but nearly snatched them a play-off place with a last minute free kick, 6 mins after coming on as sub!

Unfortunately for Gazza, and Burnley fans, Hedman pulled off a great save... this is all according to Clarets Mad, btw!!

Tuesday 7 April 2020

John Barnes, Charlton

Not one of the more famous stints in John Barnes' career, but one I just fancied painting! You know me and my propensity for unusual repaints!

Here he is in Charlton Athletic colours.

I think I'm right in saying this is the only Charlton repaint I've done so far. There are definitely more possible- Mills and Parker spring to mind- but this is a good starting point!

I like this kit! I think the collar is neat, and, for some reason, the number seems to stand out really nicely; even better than usual.

It also amuses me that it was pretty much his age when he joined Charlton too!

Atletico x3

I'm on a roll! And I'm sticking with multi-picture blog posts! There are still 358 photos in my 'repaints' album, after all!

Today: Atleti:

Three different eras, three different kits, three different number fonts.

Names and numbers like the one on Gronkjaer are strangely satisfying to do, both for the name being on a different colour, and the stripe between the 2 digits!

The 2 colour bases were the buyers choice- not to my taste personally, but I didn't mind doing them.

For some reason, the Torres is my favourite. Maybe because it's a figure I've never done before, maybe it's the little sections of stripes on the back... maybe it's just cos I really hated Hasselbaink for forcing through his move to Atleti!!

Also, without realising til now, there's another link between these 3; all of them played for Chelsea too!

Hasselbaink x2

I promised 3 posts this week, Sheff Weds, Sheff U and Leeds... and I have delivered! Ha!!

Here are a couple of Hasselbaink figures:

The first one was for my own collection, the second was for someone else.

It's funny, now, looking at figures I did a few years ago. While I think they are acceptable, I know I could definitely do a better job now! Which is a good thing, I suppose! For the record, I think the away one is better!

Someone once asked me whether I'd redo figures in my own collection, to bring them up to standard. I have considered it, but I kind of like that you can see the progress within my own figures.

Also, when would I have time?! I haven't finished a figure for myself in over a year!!

Friday 3 April 2020

Sheff Weds 1992-93

United yesterday, Wednesday today!

Here are 6 figures for you to cast your eyes over!

That shirt number font, though!

I also like the gap in the stripes for the number to go on. I think I am right in saying that these shirts had a white square on the back for the numbers specifically to go in.

Also, repainting Sheridan! (I made sure the buyer knew the value of the figure first!) He did, so I was happy to repaint.

I wonder which post gets more views; yesterday's United blog, or today's Wednesday one!

Thursday 2 April 2020

Sheffield United Soccerstarz

As promised! Here are some Sheffield United figures.

Soccerstarz today... I think they're in chronological order, but I can't be bothered to check!!

I have no idea where I took the picture of the Maguire figure!!

The Jagielka figure is of him in the current Sheff U kit- I did one of him in a kit from his early career a while back, but this one was requested after he re-signed last summer.

This is also the first post where I've used the '2020' tag!!
