Seaman, QPR

While I have some 'regulars', and therefore clubs that I end up painting an awful lot of, QPR is not one of those clubs!

I painted a Ferdinand way back when, due to just having a spare one and wanting to try my hand at hoops... possibly for the first time.

I painted a Francis, on account of having a spare Francis head after doing dome remodels!!

And lastly, for the time being at least, I did this:

David Seaman, in his QPR days. I did this one, again, partly down to having a spare, but also down to the thinking that, as a high profile player for a club that didn't get that many figures, he may catch someone's eye, and be a good addition to a collection somewhere.

The fact that it wasn't too complicated a kit played a part too!!

This ended up selling on ebay, if I remember rightly. If it didn't... I have no idea where it is now!!

Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard's Derby.

Well, it's been a busy weekend on the repainting front.

I finished 11 figures outright, am on the verge with a few more, have done 3 sets of Goalie glove repaints, and have been to Hobbycraft to top up my paints, including an experimental illuminous yellow!

I also managed to catch a bit of the play-off final...

Unlucky Frank, and unlucky to your 'Jobs for the boys' left back, Ashley Cole:

If only we hadn't contrived to beat ourselves in the play-off semi final... that could have been us not turning up in the final today!!

Just in case this has been too subtle for anyone: I'm very glad Villa won!! Games against Derby this season have just been too much fun... with one exception!

Leeds 08/09 Tonkas

After the way our season ended, I seem to have reached the place where I can post Leeds figures here again...

So, how about starting with a season that ended in a play-off defeat?!

These are the kits from the year Simon Grayson took over, and I would say the players I put on the shirts are, at very least not remembered too badly!!

Snodgrass, of course was one of the surprise successes of the season after arriving from Livingston, while Kilkenny and Douglas were reliable, if not spectacular.

As for the kits... what can I say. Macron. They weren't horrendous, but won't be making anyone's list of favourites. The sky blue/dark blue away kit was an interesting one. I remember quite liking it, but also thinking: It's just not Leeds at all!!

I think I'm right in saying I also saw Leeds (featuring Mansour Assoumani) wear it in an absolutely horrible away defeat to MK Dons round about Christmas 2008.

Pahars, Southampton

About to go to bed, but thought I haven't posted for a while.

Sooo, Southampton? Why not.

I haven't done may Southampton players, so was happy to do this one. I've got a bit of a soft spot for them, as they were my Dad's team.

I always liked Pahars as a player- thought he probably could have done well at a bigger club. A quick look at his Wiki page shows that he struggled a bit with injury in the second half of his Saints career... and that he is now manager of FK Jelgava... whoever they may be.

Fowler, Liverpool

It's the last day of the Premier League season, and so today will conclude one of the most relentless title races in years! I say relentless, rather than exciting because surely the odd unexpected defeat for contenders makes it more exciting than winning all the time, right?!

If anything, Man City and Liverpool are too good!

I was going to post a repaint for each team, but it seems that I have run out of Man City photos!

So... a Fowler repaint! To be honest, I prefer the other sculpt of Fowler, but this is the one I was sent to repaint into the 1993-95 kit. (Remember the days of a kit lasting more than 1 season?!)

I think it ended up pretty good. I love the number font (surprise, surprise!) but I'll tell you what: This Adidas design is very tricky!! The angles of the lines, and which are supposed to be longer etc was just confusing me all the way through!!

Anyway, that'll do for today. Sorry there was no City kit for balance! If you want to see more City repaints... order some!!

And...

May the best team win!

Bohinen, Forest

So, I just started writing a Gerry Francis QPR blog post, and got as far as adding the hyperlinks when I found out I had already done one for that figure... last November.

So here are a couple of more recent paint jobs: Lars Bohinen of Nottingham Forest.

Very pleased with both of these! I think the top one is a good example of the small details (such as the fine lines around the collar) really elevating what is otherwise a fairly simple kit.

The away shirt is just a lovely example of 90s football garishness!! I quite liked this kit at the time... for some reason. This is my first crack at it, but the buyer has suggested that it won't be my last!!

Romario and Stoichkov, Barca

Champions League semi-final number 2 tonight. Let's have a look at a couple of Barca repaints:

I loved these as a pairing when I was little. I watched them both in the 1994 World Cup, and especially loved Romario for Brazil.

When I found out afterwards that he played for Barcelona, I was like: Yeah, that makes sense!!

I liked these repaints, but, as I think I've mentioned before, asymmetric shirts aren't as easy as ones where there is one central stripe that I can start with!!

I think I managed to keep them pretty even though!
