Carr and Keane, Forest

Time for a couple of Nottingham Forest figures!

You know I normally look for some kind of link when posting more than 1 figure in a blog post... the best I can do with these is they are from the same era- ish.

Carr and Keane!

A couple of points of interest:

1 The Franz Carr is a lookalike figure. (I'm sure some of you will recognise who was used!)
2. I had to give the Roy Keane figure a shave!! Well, paint over his beard anyway!! I'd done this once before on another figure, and was surprised by how much more like Keane it looked without the beard!

Ronaldo, Juve

I hear Juventus made quite a big signing this summer...

I had a request for Cristiano Ronaldo Fan Favourite Figure in his new Juventus kit a few weeks ago.

When I started on it, it seemed much whiter than normal for a Juventus kit!

I think it turned out well... and as much as I complain about shirts that are striped on the front and plain on the back in real life, it does make them easier to paint!!

And a footnote... this is yet another kit with six sets of tiny Adidas stripes to do (2 each on sleeves, shorts and socks) For some reason there have been loads recently!!

De Bilde, Sheff Weds

Safe in the knowledge that, in the past when I have posted Leeds figures on match days, they've lost... here is a Sheffield Wednesday figure

Hardly a Wednesday legend, but I had a feeling when I painted it that they were a big enough club to have a couple of 'completists' amongst their fan base!

And I was right! Someone took this, along with Dan Petrescu, off my hands on eBay.

You'll have seen me complain in the past about white shirt numbers on this blog in the past... but I think Wednesday should definitely have gone with them for this kit!

What do you reckon?!

Lennon, Man City

Repainting continues to educate me!

While I did paint this a while ago, I never knew that Neil Lennon played for City until I was asked to do this!

Just a short post today, as I've just spent a fair amount of time updating the Facebook page... which you can look at here, if you want!!

Thanks!

Fowler, Liverpool

As Liverpool are playing in the cup tonight, I thought I'd post a Liverpool repaint.

For such a big club, I haven't actually done that many Liverpool repaints (come on Liverpool fans!!) so I have to post one that's a bit more old school.

Not old-old school... more sort of middle school, I guess!!

Anyway, it's Robbie Fowler; the far superior second sculpt that Corinthian made of him, in an away kit from the mid 00s.

Anyone guess what my favourite part is?! No not the Adidas stripes, which, to be fair you can't really see on this picture anyway.

Predictably, it's the shirt number font!! First time I've used this one! Love it!!

Tuesday 25 September 2018

My best ever??

I'm pretty good at Prostar repaints by now. I've done hundreds; maybe approaching a thousand (I'll have to try and work that out some time!!) and it's not often that I even consider turning down what a customer asks for.

But I nearly did for this one:

I just wasn't sure that I could do it justice, and didn't want to disappoint the buyer. In the end, after he said he was happy to have it done like the original (less detailed) Corinthian version if I struggled, I agreed.

Here's the end result:

I was delighted with it, and more importantly, so was the buyer!

It's definitely the hardest I've taken on, and I think it's the best.

As I was painting it, I had four different shades of orange mixed, and ready to use! I had to do it all in one go though, because the need to blend the colours, essentially mix them on the shirt, meant that I couldn't let it dry in the meantime!

What do you think? Is this Euro '88 Ruud Gullit the best figure I've done?

Monday 24 September 2018

Salas, River

Customers in Argentina= River Plate repaints aplenty!

Here are 2 on different figures of the same player; Marcelo Salas.

I was a big fan of Salas, around the 1998 World Cup! He scored a great goal against England in a friendly just before the World Cup, and continued that form with 4 in France.

These were interesting kits to do- I hadn't done diagonal 'sash' kits before this batch, and I quite enjoyed them!

It was also during this batch of figures that the 3 Adidas stripes became the bane of my painting life!! If they featured on shirt, shorts and socks, as they do on these Salases (and plenty of others in the same order) there are 18 precise, thin stripes on each figure!!

Keymen, Admiral Tracksuits

More Keymen! The last Keymen figures post featured some Cup Final tracksuits, and we're staying with the tracksuit theme for this post:

Not Cup Final wear this time, but a popular design that Leeds used pre-match while Admiral were supplying their kits

As mentioned in previous posts, unfortunately, the paint doesn't cover the cracks in these old, die cast figures, and the buyer didn't make any mention of trying to restore them in any other way... so I didn't!

Friday 21 September 2018

Deane, Sheffield United... again!

He's proved pretty popular, as Sheffield United repaints go; the scorer of the Premier League's first ever goal: Brian Deane!

Here he is, home and away:

I've done 3 of the home kit now and (whisper it) I think they've gotten slightly better each time; well, practice makes perfect!

The other 2 Deane posts are here and here!

I've done the away kit twice now as well, but this is the first time I've put it on the blog, so keep your eye out for the other, as well as other Sheff United figures!

...

And if you just can't wait, have a look in the Sheffield United album on my Facebook page!

Celtic x3

Celtic play Rosenborg in the Europa League tonight, and you know me; always like to keep my blog posts on the pulse...

So here are three players that played for Celtic over 8 years ago!

The only way I could've been more relevant is by posting pictures of current Celtic players... or a pic of Celtic legend Henrik Larsson, who's birthday it is today! D'oh!!

If you want to see Larsson birthday posts, check out a run-through of his career in repaints on my instagram here, or have a look on my facebook for my latest Celtic repaint of him.

Don, Ireland Rugby

Here's one with a bit of a different story behind it;

While I was teaching, I was in charge of the Tag Rugby club, and I had the most brilliant parent helper come in every week to lead it.

I wanted to thank him for all his efforts, so I did this:

Change of kit, complete with correct name, and a number that suited him (he doesn't strike me as a forward!) and a new name on the base.

He was pleased with it, I think!

Newcastle 95/96 away, part 2

My last Newcastle 95/96 away blog post contained all the figures I had done in that kit at the time!

Now, I think there is also going to be a part 3!

Let's crack on!!

Whoa! Look at them all!! (shirt number order, of course!)

If you're wondering about the missing number 7 and 8, Lee and Beardsley can be found in this post!

You can see why this kit is popular with Newcastle fans, including that it was worn in an era where they had some great players and were very enjoyable to watch!

Also, just thought I'd point out: I did do the white Adidas stripes on the sleeves and shorts, but you can only sort of see them on some of these pics!!

Monday 17 September 2018

Benedetto, Boca Juniors

It's late, and I'm tired... but I'm also conscious that I haven't done a blog post for a few days.

Here's a contemporary Boca Juniors repaint:

This one made use of a lookalike figure, to produce Boca Juniors' talismanic forward Pipo Benedetto.

I'm always a fan of adding a beard!

And now I'm going to bed!

Wednesday 12 September 2018

Juventus: The Sony sponsored shirts!!

Enough of a link to put these 3 on the same blog post?! Of course it is!!

Identifying the years of shirts can sometimes be a problem when I am trying to google them! Especially shirts from other nations... ok, ones that aren't on historical kits!!

I often have to resort to using the sponsor in the search!!

Here are 3 Juve kits, from their Sony sponsorship days!

I normally like to post in either chronological, or shirt number order... but the age order of these is a guess... based on the fact that mini-disc surely came after just Sony!!

I was very happy with these, as was the recipient.

As a point of, at best, minor interest, I painted the stars, rather than using decals- it was one of those rare times where the 'badge' was easier to do this way!

Also, for anyone wondering about the pose of the Zidane figure, it's another of those that is remodelled, but was sent to me that way.

Custom Subbuteo XL

I haven't posted one of these in a long time!

This subbuteo XL was done for a wedding favour, believe it or not! I think favour is the right word?!

It was a present for the groom, as the only football related thing he was allowed to have on the day! It was customised as him, in his Sunday League kit, including correct badges, and with his own name and number on the back:

These are easier to pick than Corinthian lookalikes, cos they all have the same face!!

If you'd like something similar for a wedding, birthday, dare I say Christmas... get in contact, via the links in the header, or the contact box at the bottom of the page!

River Plate Microstars

There's been a surge in orders for figures in South American club kits recently.

I think it's because I had one guy order quite a few, and then other people come across them, and think they'd like one for themselves!!

Here are my first 3 River Plate Microstars:

If you're interested in South American football, keep your eye on the blog, and my other social media pages!

Many more to come, including Santos, Boca, Estudiantes and the Argentina national team!

Sunday 9 September 2018

Worthington, Bolton

Haven't done a Bolton pic in a while so:

A Bolton fan had thought of this lookalike himself, and I'd say it's a pretty good one; I can't even remember who the original is! (Fairly sure it's an Austrian player, but I can't think who!)

The Umbro logos down the sleeve were the biggest challenge!

This figure also underwent a minor remodel- it was short sleeved when it arrived with me, so I used some miliput to change them to long sleeves.

Saturday 8 September 2018

John Scales, Spurs

I'm continuing to work through the backlog in the 'repaints' picture folder on my laptop, which contains almost 350 pictures that still haven't made it to the blog!

I always look for similarities between figures that mean I can put more than one picture on a blog post. Today's: John Scales at Spurs!

I like how these turned out!

Friday 7 September 2018

Sheffield United, 1970s

Through my repaints, I discovered that quite a few really big names erm... collected their pensions at Sheffield United!!

Here are Martin Peters and Jimmy Johnstone:

I nearly called this post: Sheffield United Golden Oldies... then I thought some people may refer to players from the 90s as that!

Thursday 6 September 2018

Rebrand, links... and a Vivid imaginations figure to hold your interest!

Hi all! I hope you like the new layout! I thought it was about time I made this blog layout look a bit more similar to my Facebook page! Brand-building, an' all that!

Speaking of which... I've just started an Instagram; if you're on there, I'd love a follow! Click here to find me!

The observant among you will have also noticed a slight change to the header: I'm now going under the moniker of "Marc's Corinthians + More"!

The reason for the 'more'? I realised, while I still do a lot of Corinthians, I've also done a really wide variety of figures now... including:

So... I thought I'd put one of the 'more' figures in this post!

This is a vivid imaginations figure of a Charlton Villa stalwart, in the kit from their Inter Milan away kit phase!

He picked a suitable lookalike figure, as well as the kit, name, number and caption for the oval on the base.

If you want something similar, contact me!

Leeds Tonka Goalies

One of my regulars has been getting me to paint every Leeds kit in his time from supporting Leeds onto Tonka figures.

I've enjoyed it a lot, and recently(ish!) he asked me to do a couple of goalkeepers too. He wanted Martyn and Robinson, and gave me the job of choosing the kits.

Here's what I decided to do!

Anyone who knows me will know that I couldn't just pick a kit- I have to look into reasons and performances and...

Well, anyway, the kit I went for for Martyn is the first one I picture him in, and is the one he wore in, arguably, his best season for Leeds (though in truth, he was so good it's hard to choose!)

Robinson could've gone in that kit too, as it was what he wore on his debut- a Man of the Match performance against Chelsea.

In the end, though, I went for a kit from an incredible one off performance- to this day still one of the best I've seen from a goalkeeper in a one of game. Robbo wore the sky blue shirt in the 1-1 draw with Barcelona at Elland Road, a game where a string of superb saves kept them at bay until the 94th minute...

Tuesday 4 September 2018

Rivaldo, Olympiakos

One of the stories I saw this week was that Yaya Toure has moved to Olympiakos, so in my tenuous link of the day, here's Rivaldo... in an Olympiakos kit!

I've done a few Olympiakos figures over the years, though the majority of them have been lookalike figures.

Sunday 2 September 2018

Maurice x2

Here are a couple of figures that surprised me a little... no offence to him, but I wasn't sure why someone would want Florian Maurice.

Then I found out it was Football Manager related...

Here's Maurice in a couple of kits:

Funnily enough... these are both actually the same figure! He requested the Marseilles kit, before realising that, on the version of Champ. Manager he was thinking of, Maurice played for PSG.

Sooo... I repainted my own repaint. And for some reason, that's not the first time this has happened!!

Saturday 1 September 2018

Bremner Keymen: Cup final tracksuits

It's been a while since I did put up some of the keymen, so here are the next couple:

If you missed the last post I made about this kind of figure, they are actually die-cast, and from the 60s, which explains the condition of them to some extent!

Unfortunately, the paint didn't cover the cracks, but i still think they look pretty good. (The customer didn't ask me to attempt to 'restore them' in any way other than painting)

The tracksuit tops are from the infamous 1970 final vs Chelsea, and Leeds' 1972 Cup final triumph against Arsenal.
