I'm in a very good mood regarding Leeds, after last night's round of fixtures, so I thought today's post would be a couple of Leeds figures... from a relegation season!!
The 2006-07 season followed the previous season's playoff final disappointment, and it was only downhill from there!!
Admiral still manufactured the kits, which were sponsored by Bet24.
I chose Cresswell and Lewis for these ones, as 2 of the only players to emerge from the season with any credit- Lewis winning Player of the Year, if I remember rightly. (Healy did ok too, of course, but I already put his name on one of the 04/05 kits)
One of the things I remember about this kit launch was a Bet24 promotion that was something along the lines of a free bet that matched the cost of the shirt. I remember someone on one of the Leeds message boards suggesting using that bet on the 50-1 price of Leeds getting relegated. I remember thinking it wasn't a bad idea... but couldn't bring myself to do it!! Would have paid for the next season, and I could have had a pretty forgettable Leeds shirt into the bargain!!
