Tony Yeboah, Ghana

Leeds United repainted Corinthian figure

One of my recent customers was quite a Yeboah fan!

The previous Yeboah post was part of his order, as was this one.

The back number 9 was done using transfer paper, but the front one and the black star are hand-painted.

You can't really tell from this pic, but I also did Yeboah's trademark Puma boots.

(Tho he's wearing 21 on this pic, number 9 was requested)

As with the Giggs one, really enjoyed the challenge of painting this.

Thinking of getting a Richards figure, and completing all of the 'overage' players.

And a Beckham... he deserves it!

Anyway, here's a snarling Bellamy.

Tony Yeboah, Leeds United Debut kit

Tony Yeboah Leeds United Corinthian figure Repaint

A recent order included (amongst numerous other Yeboahs) this one, in Leeds 93-95 kit.

This was an enjoyable repaint for me, as it brought back memories of the first kit I watched Leeds play in, and my first season ticket.

Although Yeboah's most famous goals came in the next year's all white, no frills kit, this one saw him grab 12 in slightly under half a season, including his first hat-trick for the club in a 4-0 win against Ipswich.

Yeboah's goals in the 94-95 Season played a massive part in securing a place in the following season's UEFA Cup.

Hurricanes part 3: The Gorgons!

So, this is Rebo of the Gorgons.

Although as far as I'm aware, they never ever won, at least they were very inventive.

Their schemes to gain that elusive first victory over the Hurricanes included stealing Dino Allegro's lucky charm, playing a match in a haunted stadium, and forcing the Hurricanes to play by the rules of an ancient Mexican version of football, in which there were no goals.

The only problem with this figure is the big happy smile!

Hurricanes, Part 2: Dino Allegro

So, yeah, as it turns out, the Goalie from the Hurricanes, Dino Allegro, looks a fair bit like David Seaman.

Fortunate really, as I had a spare Seaman figure lying around!

Dino's most memorable performance for the Hurricanes was probably the cup second leg game vs The Gorgons (who else) when he recovered from the trauma of having his bag (and therefore lucky photo of his long lost brother stolen) to go on a pitch length run, and cap it by nutmegging the opposition keeper for the winning goal.

The Hurricanes!

It's Storm Time!

Ok, so for anyone slightly confused by this admittedly snazzy kit, it was sported by The Hurricanes in the mid-90s cartoon of the same name.

Each week, they played against their arch enemies, the Gorgons, and won through good sportsmanship, despite the Gorgons' increasingly inventive ways of cheating.

Shirt number 5 was worn by Georgie Wright, who was English, and therefore a bit of a wuss. Even though he wasn't captain (that had to be an American, of course) the pre match coin toss was his responsibility, for some reason.

Here's one of the best pics I could find to show the kit:
