Sheff Wednesday: 3 different kits

Next 4 Sheffield Wednesday figures.

And look: Magilton's back!!

4 figures, 3 (slightly) different kits.

Yeah... this is a brief one. I've just finished a 10k!

Assorted Sheffield Wednesday!

See how I kept it fresh by going all thesaurus on the title?!

Let's see what we've got!

We'll be going for the abridged notes tonight, as I should be going to bed really...

So, Di Canio into Sheffield Wednesday has been a very popular repaint. And, without checking this at all, I'd say I've done this kit more or less as much as the home kit!

... I'd forgotten Jeffers played for them until I did this.

NEXT.

Jim Magilton. Nice kit to paint, this. Stripes not too thin to make them tricky! Black number on the back means clear decal, and no faff!

Speaking of black numbers... I think this one should probably be white *grimace emoji*.

I did it black after seeing a picture of the back of the shirt online... but obviously a lot of dodgy printing (ie incorrect fonts, colours etc) gets done on shirts. It would make much more sense to be white. That said, the guy I did it for never mentioned it.

And that's it for today. Come read my blog again soon, for more figures, and to see whether I can think of another word to use instead of 'mixed' in the title!

Tenuous Euros post, part 4

I might be starting to run out of figures vaguely related to the Euros now... but until I've completely run out, let's keep cracking on!

I know I said that the last post was a bit Spurs heavy, but I couldn't resist starting this post with a figure that'll make you say: Townsend? I didn't realise he was doing punditry on ITV!

NEXT!

A more familiar pundit now! Alan Shearer, in his Southampton days. One of my favourite recent repaints!

And to finish off, perhaps the most tenuous link yet:

What do you mean "What's Cantona got to do with Euro 2020?! Haven't you seen the Sports Direct advert?!

2 Pairs of Wednesday players

Here are some Wednesday players... even though it's only Tuesday.

...

Jonk and Hinchcliffe first. I don't think I've painted either of these 2 before this.

And next up, Tommy Johnson and Someone Burrows. I wanna say David?!

Without going back to check, I'd say that Johnson is the only player I've done in both Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United kits.

While it isn't the clearest to see, if you look closely, you'll notice different number fonts on the 2 pictures- the first is a Premier League era kit, and the second one was worn in the EFL.

Lastly, for all those fans of the boring technicalities of my methods, I painted the shirts all white first for the kits on the top pic, and all blue first for the bottom ones. This is because I find it much easier to paint the central stripe than leave it there by painting the two around it!

4 Sheffield Wednesday Players

I haven't posted any Wednesday players for a while, so here are the next few!

After spending about half an hour replying to all my inbox messages and requests (and that's just Twitter... Instagram next...) I couldn' be bothered choosing by a particular category; these are just the first 4 alphabetically!

Enjoy!

Sheffield Wednesday away kits

A good start to the season for Wednesday yesterday!

Here are a couple of away kit repaints

mark bright corinthian away kit repaint

One of the problems with going through my old photos for the blog posts is that I often can't remember anything relevant to write on the blog posts!

What I always think when I do a figure in this pose is: I don't like this pose! not cos it's tricky like some of them are, just that it seems a bit weird and unnatural a pose! I like how the kit turned out tho! And as I recall, Mark Bright himself commented on it on Twitter, tho I don't have the screengrab of it to hand. It'll be in the tweeets album on my Facebook page!

Regi Blinker custom sheffield wednesday corinthian away kit repaint

I always loved this sculpt! But while we're on the subject of things being awkward to paint, the hair is all over the back and shoulders, so you have to be careful with the join!

I do like the effect of putting half a number, as if the top is covered by the hair!

Ekoku, Sheffield Wednesday x2

I haven't posted any Sheffield Wednesday pictures for a while, so, here are 2:

Sheffield Wednesday ekoku corinthian repaint

Without checking, I've assumed these are in chronological order, assuming he got number 22 after arriving mid season, before moving up to number 9.

I don't have much more to say about these!

Erm... I had zero memory of Ekoku playing for Sheffield Wednesday before painting these. That's about it!

More Sheffield Wednesday Funkos

I've not done too many Funko Pops in kits aside from Leeds, so these were a bit of a change of pace.

They were also head swaps, but the customer provided me with both of the new heads, so I don't know which figures they came from originally!

Obviously, this season's Leeds kits haven't given me any practice of doing stripes on funkos before, but at least it was only one side of the shirt!

The other difference was having to check the sizes for the sponsors, logos etc. I've got this year's Leeds ones down to exact measurements in fractions of millimetres after doing them so many times! I think I got these ones right tho!

Mixed Sheffield Wednesday figures!

In case you were wondering, my process for choosing which figures to put on the blog usually involves looking at the teams I've posted here recently; looking in my repaints album, and picking a team that I have a few of, hopefully with some kind of link.

These do not have a link! The problem with my Sheffield Wednesday, and Sheffield United figures for that matter, is that from the thumbnail pics, it's hard to tell which are from the same season, and I don't know the kits or players well enough!

Throw in the fact that sometimes I save them as "Sheffield Wednesday", sometimes "Sheff Wed" and sometimes "Sheff Weds"... well, that's why today's are the first 3 alphabetically by surname!!

First Agbonlahor... I had no idea he played for them til I did this!

You may know that, in real life, I'm not a fan of shirts striped on the front and plain on the back, but it does make them quicker to paint!

Which leads us on to:

And Finally, Earl Barrett, with his lovely, traditional striped front and back!
...
I didn't know he played for Wednesday either!

2 Wednesday keepers

Sheffield Wednesday are one of those teams I know I have plenty of un-blogged pictures of, so when I checked, and saw I hadn't done a Wednesday post for a while, that's what I went with today.

Even tho it's only Monday. Arf.

I went for 2 keepers!

pressman custom sheffield wednesday corinthuan figure

Mark Crossley custom sheffield wednesday repainted football figure

I like both of these; Pressman just edging it in terms of my own personal preference; there are actually some pretty nice details on the arms and side of the shorts that you can't really see on this pic!

Apparently, Mark Crossley scored a goal for Forest wearing this kit! He was also wearing tights at the time, and I offered to paint those on, but the buyer preferred to leave them!!

Francis, Wednesday

Anyone up for a game of spot the difference?!

trevor francis sheffield wednesday corinthian figure

custom repainted francis sheff wednesday corinthian figure

Did you get them?!

One has a sponsor, and name on the back, and the other doesn't! And if you're really splitting hairs, I'd say the collars are slightly different.

Even on the kit with the Mr Tom sponsor, I don't think they would've had names on shirts, as it was from 1992. I always offer it as an option tho, as some people just prefer it.

Looking at some pics of Francis in his Wednesday days, one other thing that maybe I should have done is added a bit of grey to the hair! (Of course if either customer had asked for it, I would've done it!)

Di Canio, Home and Away

And that post title means I am now singing the Home and Away theme music from the 1990s.

Home and Away was a TV show that people used to watch before it got moved to Channel 5.
...
Ask your parents.

Anyway, here are 2 Di Canios

Paolo Di Canio sheffield wednesay corinthian repaint

I've done him in this kit several times now, but I think this is the best version. Obviously the more you do something, the better you get, and I think I have absolutely hit my stride with striped kits!

The details round the collar and cuffs are a favourite now as well!

In contrast to the first one, I've never painted this kit before. It was a relatively simple one- just the collar and the hooped socks requiting full concentration!

Sheff Weds 1992-93

United yesterday, Wednesday today!

Here are 6 figures for you to cast your eyes over!

That shirt number font, though!

I also like the gap in the stripes for the number to go on. I think I am right in saying that these shirts had a white square on the back for the numbers specifically to go in.

Also, repainting Sheridan! (I made sure the buyer knew the value of the figure first!) He did, so I was happy to repaint.

I wonder which post gets more views; yesterday's United blog, or today's Wednesday one!

Sheffield Wednesday Funkos

Well, it's certainly been a while since I've been here, hasn't it?! (Right now, I'm wondering how many posts on this blog start with that exact phrase, or at least words to that effect... I'm guessing about 40%)

Anyway, let's get straight to business, with some pictures! And pictures of Funkos at that! There's only one on this blog so far, but I've done quite a few since that one, starting with these:

Early yo mid 90's Sheffield Wednesday kits! I'll let you in on a little secret; these were the first ones that I struggled to get the heads back on, after I removed them for painting! All worked out ok in the end tho!

Keep an eye on the blog, for more funko pictures... in the next 10-15 months if my current rate of writing posts is anything to go by.

You'd be better off following me on Facebook or Instagram, tbh!

De Bilde, Sheff Weds

Safe in the knowledge that, in the past when I have posted Leeds figures on match days, they've lost... here is a Sheffield Wednesday figure

Hardly a Wednesday legend, but I had a feeling when I painted it that they were a big enough club to have a couple of 'completists' amongst their fan base!

And I was right! Someone took this, along with Dan Petrescu, off my hands on eBay.

You'll have seen me complain in the past about white shirt numbers on this blog in the past... but I think Wednesday should definitely have gone with them for this kit!

What do you reckon?!

Petrescu, Sheff Wed

I haven't had time to do this recently, but a while back, when I had a few less orders on the go, I had time to pull some figures out of my box of spares, and do a repaint that I fancied!!

Here's one of the results!

Dan Petrescu in his Sheffield Wednesday days. I could have done Southampton, Bradford or more... but I've sold to Wednesday fans in the past, and thought I'd have a better chance of offloading this one than, say a Bradford version!

I was happy enough with how it turned out. It almost had a number 2 shirt though! I just assumed that he wore it here as he did at Chelsea. I think I even got as far as making the decal before checking!

Billard 2, Sheff Weds

Here's my second custom 'Billard' figure... son of the first, in case you were guessing!

For this one, I helped the customer choose a suitable 'lookalike' figure, and then she chose the details, such as specific kit, shirt number, and names- both on the back, and on the base.

I'm told it went down well!

If you would be interested in a similar custom figure as a gift for someone, or a treat for yourself, get in touch by commenting, or via Twitter or Facebook!

"Billard", Wednesday

Here's another custom, personalised figure that was requested as a gift.

I worked with the customer to identify a suitable lookalike figure, and then he chose the kit, the shirt name and number and the name on the base.

I used a recent photo to make additional changes such as a beard, change of eye colour, and add some small sections of white to the hair (the customer said I'd been quite generous with the amount of white- or lack of it!!)

Anyway, if you'd like a similar present for someone you know, or just a figure for yourself, get in contact!

Waddle, Sheffield Wednesday

As I mentioned a while back, the Sheffield Wednesday Cantona that I put on ebay led to further enquiries... and sales.

While Corinthian did make a Wednesday Waddle, the customer requested this kit, as worn in the UEFA Cup in the early 90s.

The main difference between this and and any other Wednesday figure produced is the location of the Sanderson logo (in place of the O in the sponsor)

I can't even find a picture of the shirt online! I had to watch Youtube videos to see what it was like!

Di Canio, Sheffield Wednesday

I like this one! Di Canio in Sheffield Wednesday kit, trademark white boots and all!

I was surprised Corinthian didn't make one of these themselves, but had it pointed out to me that it was something to do with the timing of their relegation that would've prevented it. Or the time of his transfer, I forget.

I painted this for a Wednesday fan who found my Cantona figure on ebay, and asked if I was willing to do anymore. I was!

I ended up painting this exact figure again, for someone else who saw it on Facebook, and liked it!

I have one more Wednesday figure up my sleeve from the same order to post in the near future!
If you're a Wednesday fan, and you'd like to see more, you know what to do!
