Yak Jensen and Stuart Pearce

I've recently been reading my copy of Glove Story 2, which, in case you didn't realise, is a book all about goalkeeping that features some of my repaints, as well as hand made mini glove bags!

Even though I wouldn't particularly call myself a goalkeeping enthusiast, it's a cracking read, including some great stories that you may well have never heard before.

Of course, there are many stories and points of interest, but a couple that stick in my mind as I write this are:

1. A team of English pro goalkeepers had a basketball match against the Harlem Globetrotters in the 1970s

2. The story that led to this figure:

Stuart Pearce loved playing in goal in his youth, and while he was semi pro at Wealdstone, he missed playing with his mates... so he registered as "Yak Jensen" with Dynamo Kingsbury Kiev!

In Glove Story 2, Pearce reveals that he even chipped in with some goals, by going up for free kicks and corners, and occasionally dribbling out from the back!

I was asked to produce this remodel for the book, and was happy to do so. As you may have guessed, the kit didn't take long to paint!

I was going to end this post there, but thought- I've mentioned Wealdstone, why not stick another pic on as a bonus!

Another fairly simple repaint, but effective in it's simplicity! I also like the handpainted number. If I'm completely honest, I only attempted it because I'd printed the decal backwards, but I think it came out well!

Jarman, Lincoln United

Lincoln United; there's a club I didn't expect to receive an order for (or know exited, to be fair!)

I had a chat over Twitter with a YouTuber who wanted to do a giveaway for his channel... if I remember rightly, he was doing a Football Manager series about Lincoln United, and wanted a figure of one of the key men.

So, this happened:

Quite a nice simple repaint. I actually did 2 of them, and I think I'm right in saying one of them went to Jarman himself!

... He definitely did- I've just searched on YouTube to find the video, in case you want to watch. You can find it by clicking here.

Incidentally, I didn't get much extra exposure by the guy who's channel it is saying "I had this made by a lad on twitter... I can't remember his name!" *Laughing emoji*

Big Bad Batten! Bath City

I've probably done more Bath City repaints than you'd expect!

More than I've done of Barcelona, in fact!!

Here are the latest 2:

Home and away kits here. As it was a lookalike figure, I had to change the hair colour, and add the beard.

I also added the back sponsor, above the shirt number, which I don't often do, but was requested here.

I was very happy with the home kit especially- I don't recall doing anything quite like those 'stripes across stripes' before. I think it looks great, as did the buyer, and Jack Batten himself!

Jim Rollo, Vivid Imaginations figure

For a player who's spent the majority of his career in non-league, Jim Rollo has a higher than expected number of repaints!

Having done home and away Prostar versions of him, here is the latest:

While these figures do take a lot more work to finish, they do allow for a lot of detail to be added with a bit more ease.

I particularly liked the second sponsor on the back, and the Errea captain's band!

More Vivid Imaginations figures coming soon!

Le Saux, Wembley FC

This Le Saux figure is my second Wembley FC repaint!

There could be more coming, as Wembley had a number of former Premier League (and Corinthianified) players appear for them in what was basically a glorified publicity stunt: get Wembley to Wembley!

I don't know how many games Le Saux played for Wembley, but they didn't quite make it to Wembley Stadium... they got knocked out of the cup by Uxbridge!

Graeme must have thought this repaint was ok, has he 'liked' it on Twitter!

'Waldock', Darlington

Here's one of the kind of completely custom figures I occasionally get asked to do as a gift.

Someone contacted me to do a 40th birthday present for a mate of his. He'd already chosen the lookalike figure himself, so all we had to discuss was the kit, the name and number, and the name on the base!

He went for the Darlington kit warn in the FA Trophy final... I think!

If you would like a similar service, just contact me via Facebook or Twitter.

And don't worry if you don't know much about the figures; I can help you find a suitable lookalike!

Seaman... Wembley

In what was basically a publicity stunt, David Seaman once signed up for Wembley FC.

So, thinking it might attract a bit of interest, I painted this:

Seaman was one of a group of ex-pros to sign for non-league Wembley (who were sponsored by Budweiser) in their attempt to reach Wembley in the final of the FA Cup (sponsored by Budweiser) Weird, no?

Some of the other players signed included Cannigia, Parlour and Le Saux

This was a relatively straightforward repaint, but along with my Graeme Le Saux repaint (pics soon) it attracted the attention of Wembley FC when I put it on twitter:

Talks have started, and may include repaints of some of the other ex-pros!

If you want to know more about the whole thing, here's the BBC's take on the events.

Scott Partridge, Bath City

So, here is the 4th of my Bath City repaints!

This one uses a lookalike as club legend Scott Partridge!

I don't have much else to say about this one, other than I know it was bought as a gift, and, according to the guy that bought it, it "went down a storm"!

I'll settle for that :)

Here's a pic of the real kit:

Mellor, Bath City

The return of Bath City figures to my Blog!

Here is Goalkeeper, Jason Mellor; the kind of order that adds real variety to repainting!

I didn't tweet him myself this time, the customer did that, but this is what he had to say about it:

And in case you want a look at the kit:

Rollo, Bath City away

You may remember a while back that I posted a picture of Bath City legend Jim Rollo, in the Roman's promotion winning kit.

Well, the same guy (who has to be Jim Rollo's biggest fan!!) also ordered one in an away kit.

I got a tweet back from Rollo about the home kit repaint, and he also decided to RT and Fave this one.

Here's the clearest image of Rollo in this kit that I could find!

I feel I should also say, in the words of the guy who bought these 2 figures: "They have gone down in Bath folklore; he loves them!"

Rollo, Bath City

I do love getting orders like this one!

Before this, I had never heard of Jim Rollo, and couldn't have told you what kit Bath City wore. Now I can tell you that this was the kit they were promoted in!

(I can also tell you about the away kit- pics soon!)

As I understand it, Rollo is a bit of a local legend- a quick look at his Wiki page shows that he has nearly 500 games for Bath under his belt!

Here he is, celebrating promotion:

And here's his twitter response to a picture of this figure:

The fabled triple whammy; a favourite, a retweet, and a reply! It's also nice to see that the other favourite and retweet are from the guy that bought the 2 Rollo figures!

Gary Abbott, Enfield FC

Enfield's top scorer, in the very distinctive mid-90s away kit!

Had to do this kit from memory, as, apparently, there is a limit to what you can find online; mid 90s non-league football away kit images being a bit of a no go!

We all dream of a Team of Matt Le Tiss!

Repainted corinthian figure guernsey football club Green lions

Here's a kit you may have seen on here before, but a post I feel proud to make!

After a fair bit of contact on twitter with the guy I sold the first Guernsey Le Tiss to, here are a bunch that he is now going to sell on match days : )

Within an hour of this picture going up on twitter, he had agreed deals to sell 3 of them!

COYGL!

Darren Annon, Enfield FC away

Soccer football, corinthian figures

Here's another throwback to my days supporting Enfield FC!

This is Darren Annon in an away kit that I can most accurately describe as 'mid to late 90s'!

Here's his fairly extensive Wiki page...

And here's a pic for those of you that didn't instantly recognise the kit:

Le Tissier, Guernsey FC

Some people may have missed this one, but, at 44 years old, Matt le Tissier turned out for Guernsey FC  this season, to help them out with fixture congestion.

Having a double of him in my big box made this inevitable:

This is the first time I've used white transfer paper for the sponsor, badge and number, and it went without a hitch!

Here's the man himself in action, for those of you that wouldn't already recognise the Guernsey shirt!

This figure is also my first sale since taking up repainting!

Leroy May; Enfield FC

Regular viewers may have noticed I have a teensy bit of an affinity with Leeds United!
In my youth, I was also a season ticket holder at Enfield FC, in their Southbury Road hayday!

Here's a repaint of Striker Leroy May, in what I can best pinpoint as a 'late 90s' kit:

The sponsor is slightly too far over, but the badge came out well, and I'm pleased with the sleeves!

Still gutted I never got myself this shirt!

(The only pic I could find of the kit was this one, which shows Wayne Brown, rather than Leroy... and also shows that I did the collar wrong : /)
