Reyna, City

Well friends, I'm tired on a Friday evening, and I've got a zoom call in 5 minutes...

This Claudio Reyna figure seems as good as any to post and not write much about.

Hope you like it!

Lampard, City

Thought I'd put this one up as City are playing today.

Frank Lampard Man City Corinthian repaint

I think this is the third time I've done Lampard in City colours, though the first time with this sculpt.

The highlight is definitely the socks!!

City Full backs

A pair of figures that can be categorised as Man City players, in the same kit, as Full backs, and as former Arsenal!

Here are Sagna and Clichy:

I remember at the time of doing these thinking that it was remarkable how much more Clichy looked like him after I painted on the beard!

It also bothered me slightly that Sagna didn't have hair like this when playing for City! I only ever once tried 'shaving' a figure's head, and it didn't end well... in fact it didn't end at all! It's still half finished in my box of spares!

Iheanacho, Man City

Quick blog post before I watch the Leeds game!

Also, another chance to test out the 'blog photo team always loses' theory...

I had to use a lookalike figure to make Iheanacho, and then he went and left Man City not long after I finished it! That fact gives a bit of a clue about how long ago I did this, I suppose!

Decent little repaint; I had to mix the colour for the sleeves!

And that's about it! Time to start feeling nauseous about Leeds!

"Sam B"

And with this post, I'm all out of stockpiled City repaints!! So, if any City fans want to see more... order some from me!

Anyway, about today's figure:

This figure was ordered as a birthday present. The customer and I discussed possible lookalike figures, and then, he specified the required kit, including name and shirt number, the name on the base, and the boots!

If you would like something similar for a friend, relative, colleague, milkman etc just get in contact via the links in the header, or use the comment box below!

Man City away Tonkas

Mid-week Premier League games; it must be nearly Christmas!

I've had a look down the fixture list, and decided that Man City figures are the way to go for today. Here are a couple of Tonkas:

They certainly had some lively kits in the the 90s, didn't they?!

I really enjoyed doing the maroon-y one!

As ever, note the correct number fonts!

Lescott, City Soccerstarz

My process for choosing which figures to blog:

*Looks to see which team I haven't posted in a while.
*Looks to see if there is any link to what's going on in football that day

So... City are playing tonight, and here's Joleon Lescott!!

And that's it!

Pretty straightforward this one. I painted it quite a long time ago too, so I can't even remember any interesting stories about doing it!

Highlight: hooped socks!

Heaney, City

Good result for City yesterday; City repaint on here today!

Corinthian collectors will know that Heaney isn't all that easy to come by, but at least he had a long successful stint at Maine Ro... oh.

According to wiki, he spent 3 years contracted to Manchester City, but made just 18 first team appearances in that time, and went out on loan twice.

Still, nice kit this one, and clearly I was also in the mood for painting the boots too!

Special Gareth Barry Figure

I had been waiting to post this one, because of the possibility of getting a photo of the actual player holding up the figure... but being as it hasn't arrived, I thought I'd just get on and post the pic!

A special figure to commemorate Gareth Barry breaking the Premier League appearance record for the man himself:

As I'm sure you'll have worked out, each quarter of the shirt is one of the teams he played for in breaking the record (Villa, City, Everton and West Brom)

Some other details of note:

1. The hooped socks, made up of the colours of all 4 teams.
2. The sleeve patches: One from his debut season at Villa, one the Champions patch from his time at City.
3. All 4 shirt sponsor (well, a quarter of each, anyway!)
4. The 3 different numbering styles worn across his years in the Premier League
5. Adidas boots.

Oh, and in case you were unsure, 633 was the number of games he had played when he broke the record... though by the end of the season he was at 653...

Pleased with this one! And, in the words of the guy who bought it as a present for Barry: "He loved it!"

Lennon, Man City

Repainting continues to educate me!

While I did paint this a while ago, I never knew that Neil Lennon played for City until I was asked to do this!

Just a short post today, as I've just spent a fair amount of time updating the Facebook page... which you can look at here, if you want!!

Thanks!

Tevez XL

Here's the first XL Corinthian I've done that isn't a Spurs player!!

Tevez, in his Man City Days:

Quite a simple but effective repaint. I think the boots are a nice extra touch.

Funny story with this one is that it was originally in a Man Utd kit... the City fan that sent it to me clearly couldn't bear to have it in his house in his original colours, because all the badges were crossed out with black marker pen!!

Made me chuckle when I opened it, anyway!

Lampard, City... again

I actually painted this ages ago, but being as Frank has been in the news lately...

Here's Frank Lampard in his City days, in what turned out to be a reasonably successful loan spell. He played 38 games, and scored 8 goals, including one against Chelsea, of course.

In case you have missed the news, and are wondering why I've chosen to post this today, Lampard has just been announced as Derby County manager. It'll be very interesting to see how he does.

Could be one to make a manager figure of!

Man City away kits

I haven't posted any Man City pics for a while, and, being as they've just been crowned Premier League Champions, now seems as good a time as any to upload some!

Not sure Richard Jobson would've made it into Pep's starting 11, but SWP might've done... if he can get consistent performances out of Sterling...

I put them up in chronological, and shirt number order!

I was particularrly pleased with the SWP one!

Francis, Man City

Here's a Corinthian repaint of Trevor Francis in a Man City away kit.

I actually did this quite a while ago, and realised I haven't posted it yet! I'd definitely class it as one of those times where less is more, and a simple repaint ended up looking pretty classy!

Maybe this was further helped by the traditional nature of Man City's away colours.

Waterreus, Man City

Quite a rare figure, this one.

My Man City regular said it was pretty difficult to get hold of. Still, well worth it for his 2 League cup appearances for them!!

Straightforward repaint, but note the boots!

A couple of Man City Tonkas!

The majority of the Tonka repaints so far have been Leeds ones, but here are acouple of Man City requests I've had recently:

I enjoyed doing both of these, but in particular the goalie kit!

I was very pleased with the 'patchy' patterns, and the guy who bought it also highlighted these!

Also, as I'm sure any regular reader will know by now, I was pleased to have the exact font that City wore at the time for the shirt numbers!

Warhurst, Man City

To try and get on top of my massive selection of repaint photos, I've been lumping similar kits together in these blog posts recently... but I've never done another figure quite like this!

I was really pleased with this one! The lines to make up the criss cross pattern were thin and consistent. I knew this kit would be a challenge, but I think I rose to it!

The Man City fan who this was for didn't know what number Warhurst wore in City's reserves in the 80s... so we went with 8!

Goater, Wanchope, Weah, City

Thought I'd lump these 3 together, as they're all in exactly the same kit... and I haven't posted in a while!

I've gone against my usual inclination of putting them in shirt number order here! I've gone for surname alphabetical order!

In recent weeks, as I've added really fine details, I've found myself thinking; "I probably wouldn't have done that a year ago!"

On these figures that crossed my mind with the 2 white stripes on the front bit of the collar, and the thin blue stripes on each side of the white shoulder strip.

I'm happy to feel that even now, my work is progressing, and I'm adding things I wouldn't have attempted before!

Berkovic and Howey, City

Here I am again! Back on it, with two posts in two days, and no less than 6 figures between them!

Here are a couple of Man City repaints:

While the kit is mainly the same for these two, there are some differences. Most obviously, I guess is the shorts colour. This was requested by the customer- I think they wore the dark blue ones in away games if they clashed.

Other differences: The shirt sponsors (which changed from Eidos to First advice in 2002) and the font for the names/numbers on the backs of the shirts. This is because City were promoted to the Premier League in between changing these strips. New League = New font!

And my favourite thing about these figures? The hooped socks of course!!

van Buyten, City

Here's a quick post of a Man City Microstar repaint.

Daniel van Buyten had a short spell at City in 2004, and only played for them 5 times in the league.

I was surprised too!

This was a pretty simple but effective little repaint... the socks are my favourite bit!
