AC Milan European Cup Winners

After yesterday's post offering the chance to WIN FREE REPAINTS, I thought I'd get back to normal, with a few pictures today.

I've gone with AC Milan; partly cos they featured in the quiz at the end of today's episode of Quickly Kevin, but mostly because the are at the top of my repaints album due to alphabetical order!!

I haven't even put them into chronological or shirt number order today. I'm surprised too!

Lazy Bank Holiday vibes, I guess!

Some good players here!!

Hope you enjoyed!

International Break

As we're currently in the middle of a set of international fixtures, how about a couple of repaints in international kits?

First, one to offer a little cheer to any Irish followers I have:

If I remember rightly, I mixed up some slightly darker green for the sleeves on this kit. If you can't tell... well, it was only a subtle difference anyway!

And here's Celtic legend Billy McNeill in his Scotland colours. Nice simple, but effective repaint.

Hurst, West Ham

West Ham are playing again tonight, so I thought I'd stick a couple of West Ham pics on the blog.

Geoff Hurst, home and away!

Geoff Hurst Custom West Ham repainted corinthian

West Ham away kit custom geoff hurst corinthian figure

I was pleased with these- I've said many times that sometimes simpler kits are more effective... as long as you get the details just right eg shirt number fonts.

Incidentally, the bands round the middle of the away kit were straight- it's just the contours of the figure that made it look wonky on the pic. Honest!!

The guy who bought them was pleased too, commenting they were even better than the versions of this kit that Corinthian released. He was so delighted that he put them on ebay... cheeky beggar!!

To be honest though, I don't mind- he paid me what I asked, it's up to him what he does with them next... I might not be so gracious if they end up selling for loads!!

Lisbon Lions, Scotland, part 2!

Of the alternative Lisbon Lions Celtic set that I did for a big Celtic fan, I think I am right in saying these are the only ones I haven't posted yet.

Here's John Clark in a Scotland away kit, and manager Jock Stein, in his sky blue Scotland blazer!

Celtic, Alternative Lisbon Lions!

The last of the repainted Lisbon Lions set. Through all of the recent Celtic repaints, you may have noticed that I've grouped the figures dues to some kind of similarity... the similarity for these 2 is that they are the last ones I haven't blogged!

Celtic 1960s aways

Here continue the Lisbon Lions in away kits!

Today's theme: mainly white kits!

Scotland, 1960s

My regular Celtic fan has recently developed a taste for getting Scotland international kits repainted onto former Celtic Greats.

Here are a couple of them!

I give you Billy McNeill, and Bertie Auld, both of Lisbon Lions fame, sporting a mid 1960s Scotland kit.

If you follow this blog, I'm sure you'll have read before that I love the simplicity of 1960s kits- not just because it makes them easier to paint(!) but I think there is something really effective about the end result.

Something a bit different about these two is that I also hand painted the shirt number, rather than using a decal. I felt the big, curved 1960s number font would be fine to paint, and it turned out that way too.

Celtic, away kits of the '60s and '70s!

One of my regulars, who is a big Celtic fan recently came by a Lisbon Lions box set at a price he couldn't refuse!
...
But he already had one!! The result? Plenty of Celtic away kits and Scotland National team repaints!

Here are the first few Celtic ones... I've grouped them together in that they are all predominantly green!

I've always found Celtic's tradition of numbering the shorts, rather than shirts interesting. Obviously they changed at some point, so I just trusted my customer's knowledge on these.

The highlight of this bunch has to be the hand-painted Umbro logos on Lennox!

John Charles x2, Leeds

Two repaints of a bonafide Leeds United legend coming up!

I actually painted the all white one of these almost a year ago, at the same time as I did this one, but haven't got round to posting the pic until now!

While it is the plainest repaint I have ever done, I like it! The picture in the middle is always the first one I think of when I think of John Charles, and that's why I painted it really.

The top one was for a customer, and he wanted the 42 goal season kit! Who can blame him for that?!

McNeill, Celtic

To be honest, I don't know a lot about Billy McNeill. A quick wiki search has informed me that he was the captain in Celtic's historic 'Lisbon Lions' side, and to be honest that's enough fact finding for this post!

As for the repaint, an away kit was chosen for this one.

You'll also notice Celtic's trademark numbered shorts, rather than shirt!

As for the clover badge; a quick scan of historicalkits indicates that they used it on from the late 40s to the mid 60s.

Greaves, Spurs

Here's a Spurs Jimmy Greaves figure, painted as part of my big Spurs order a while back.

It's one of those that was really simple, but looks really effective for it, in my opinion at least!

Here's an image to compare it to:

And my reason for posting this now; I got a message back from Jimmy on twitter! I got properly excited about this one!!

Roy Through the Ages

OK, so I've posted all of these pictures before, but here are all of my Melchester Rovers repaints together:

I like this pic, as a way to look at the way the famous red and yellow kit, as well as the marvellous blonde locks progressed!

Roy Race 1950s/60s

Melchester Rovers 1950s/ 1960s kit repaint

My last Melchester Rovers repaint, for the time being at least!

This one is based on the 1950s/60s kits which were largely similar, but sometimes had a badge, and sometimes didn't.

I purposely made the 9 (which is hand-painted- no decals) big and square, as was the style for Melchester in this era!

The original figure, with suitably immaculate side parting, was Martin Peters.

Don Revie XI

David Harvey, Paul Reaney, Terry Cooper, Billy Bremner, Jack Charlton, Norman Hunter, Peter Lorimer, Allan Clarke, Mick Jones, Johnny Giles, Eddie Gray, Paul Madeley

So, I've decided not to post individual pictures for this lot; basically because, barring the Keeper, all the kits are the same.

This is the project that got me started on repainting: the idea of having a Don Revie Leeds XI... it's actually a 12, I felt Madeley gets left out enough as it is!

There were a few factors involved in figure selection; facial similarity, hairstyle, and price of figure (or whether I already owned it, for that matter!)

Tho it's hard to tell from this picture, all have the 'LUFC' script/badge on their chests (I added this to the existing Jack Charlton figure) and shirt numbers too.

They stand in number order, from 1-12;

Harvey, Reaney, Cooper, Bremner, Charlton, Hunter, Lorimer, Clarke, Jones, Giles, Gray, Madeley.
