4 Ian Rushes

Strap yourselves in, here are 4 Ian Rush figures!

As you may have guessed, this grey one was a pain in the backside to paint! I think it was worth the effort, though I don't mind that I've not been asked to reproduce it since.

On the flipside, while it is also tecnically pretty difficult to do, I actually quite enjoy doing pinstripes. This one is part of a growing collection of European Cup final players that one guy is doing; one player from each final.

Another complicated kit! But probably not as difficult as it looks. I didn't try to match the kit exactly- just stick to the righ kind of shapes and patterns. It's all you can do with a kit like this, really.

And finishing off with the 92-93 away kit. Whenever I'm doing this kit template, I do the main colour of the shirt... and then put off doing the adidas shoulder/ shorts section for ages! I don't know why though, the thought of it is always worse than doing it!#

And, there you go. There was a time when I would have put these into chronological order... but I'm sure the fact that I haven't this time hasn't ruined your evening too much.

4 Fowlers!

I think I wrote the other day about the parameters people have for their collections. In general, one of each figure is enough for me, but that is certainly not the case for the owner of these:

4 Fowlers that... might be in chronological order?! I couldn't be bothered checking!

I've also done loads for him of Fowler in his first spell at Liverpool too, and away kits! Basically, if you trawl through this blog finding all the Fowlers, I'd say 95% of them are his!

I mean, a good 90% of the Liverpool figures in general probably are to be fair!! Big collector!!

Mixed Liverpool figures

I have now got a lot, and I mean A LOT, of Liverpool figures which I have finished, but not added to the blog.

My feelings are that, to get a nice mixture of kits and players, the best way to start is to probably stick them up in alphabetical order.

With that in mind, here are a few mixed Liverpool repaints!

Minor remodel on this Phill Babb figure; I filled in the v neck in order to get the white part of this 'collar' nice and round, and more even looking. Nice and simple apart from that small extra job!

I'll be honest and say this is a design that I put off doing for a while. It was the thought of those thick adidas stripes on the shoulder. Once I cracked on though, they didn't give me too many problems. Definitely preferable to the 93-94 design, with the adidas stripes coming in from each side of the stomach!

Nice kit to do this one. People might think it looks difficult, and, while I always keep a pic of the kit nearby to refer to, once you've got the kinds of shapes that feature in mind, it's fairly straightforward, as long as you've got a thin brush! The shapes and lines can always ben thinned a bit once they've dried too!

See: comment on the Barnes figure!

Hope you enjoyed perusing, and my notes!

More soon!

Euro 2020 ish post...

Well I haven't been here since April! If you follow my socials, you'll know I've not been taking any new orders due to real life work commitments. I have managed to get a bit of painting in, but absolutely zero blogging!!

As a result of lack of new orders, I don't have any specific Euros related figures, but how about some with tenuous links?!

Ian Wright may have never played in the Euros, but he's at this year's as a pundit! Here he is in Celtic kit!!

Sheva! Here he is in Milan European Cup final winning kit. It'd take a brave man to bet on him winning the Euros as manager of Ukraine!

Another of ITV's punditry team, and another European cup winner! Graeme Souness, in Liverpool kit.

A couple of active players... but not in their England kits! Kane and Walker soccerstarz in Spurs away kits. We need both of them to step up, I'd say. Not seen the best of either in this tournament yet.

And last, but certainly not least, the Yorkshire Pirlo: Kalvin Phillips! You'll notice this custom funko is in the number 7 shirt, and has different hair than Kalvin has now- I made it just after his England debut based on his appearance then.

And that's your lot for today. Hopefully giving you a few more pics than normal makes up for the absence. I'll try to not leave it so long next time... not least as I've got some more figures tenuously linked to the Euros!

Robbie Fowler, Liverpool away kits

This Thursday evening, I thought I'd treat you to, not only several fine Robbie Fowler repaint pics, but also to a very small word count.

Basically, I've just been on a zoom call, and have had enough of my screen for now!

Enjoy!

Personalised Funko Pops

This post is a bit of a sales pitch, but, funnily enough, I absolutely do not need to make a sales pitch at the moment- I can barely keep up with my orders as it is!

None the less, here are a couple of examples of personalised custom funko pops that I was asked to do for people as Christmas/birthday presents.

Any kit can be requested, and any shirt number and name can be added. I can do specific boot colours and on the hockey one, I was even given pictures of the pads and stick, as well as the kit.

Get in touch with me using the links in the header, or the contact form below. Just... try and give me as much notice as you can if you're interested in one of these!

Liverpool 91-92

Well, who'd have thought?! Liverpool have just lost at home for the first time since dinosaurs roamed the earth, and it was against Burnley of all people.

Now would seem a good time to post a Burnley picture... but I'm pretty sure I've only ever done 2, and they are already on the blog.

So... here are some Liverpool figures instead. I decided to use this picture so I wouldn't have to add photo information to loads of separate ones whilst writing the blog post.

I mean, it is almost 11 O'Clock, on a school night!!

I quite enjoyed this kit in the end, though the differing arm/shoulder positions mean it's not easy to get them consistent across all the figures.

Fowler through the ages... part 1

Right... lets get a head of steam going!! Here are some Robbie Fowlers:

As you can see, the guy I did these for chose the first sculpt of Fowler for these ones. Maybe he thinks it is a better likeness of him in his early career? I much prefer the second version. Don't worry; you'll see them!

(If you just can't wait, get over to my facebook page to have a look)

I was happy with these. The yellow one in particular looks nice and sharp!

Liverpool... cream(?!) kit

I did not like this kit at all when it first came out!! I mean... I still don't really like it now, to be honest, but the repaints came out ok!

Here are a selection of spice boys, in shirt number order!

Robbie Fowler cream kit corinthian repaint liverpool

I decided to mix the colour for the shirts, rather than trying to find one that was available in shops... maybe affected by being in lockdown... though maybe not. The whole year feels like it's been lockdown, so I can't say for sure if these were done then or not!!

Anyway, there are 2 other things I want to point out. One is obviously the name and number font. Come on, you knew that was going to be one.

The other is that I did very minor remodels on all of these except Fowler. They were all wearing collared shirts apart from him, so I filled in the gap. I might have filed down the collars too... I've done so many figures since March that I can't properly remember! Anyway, if you look really closely, you might be able to tell!

Bruce, x2

I nearly posted some Leeds pics today, til I remembered my superstition about putting them up ont he same day that Leeds are playing...

And next after Leeds come Liverpool in my repaints album, so here are a couple of Bruces!

Liverpool Bruce Grobelaar corinthian custom repaint

This is maybe  the third or fourth time I've done this kit now, but the first time on this sculpt (the one that was released in Southampton kit)

There was also a request for the gloves, as you may have noticed!

The gloves were done on this one too:

Unlike the last one, this was a first time kit for me. I was really pleased with the Adidas stripes on the chest; they just look really clean and straight to me. Hopefully you agree!

3 Liverpool repaints

So, Liverpool are playing City tonight, and will be receiving a guard of honour, after winning the title for the first time in... a long time!

I thought I'd post up some Liverpool repaints in honour of the occasion! If I'm losing any Everton fans here, how about I do a set of Everton figures in the next blog post?!

Anyway, here's Liverpool's early 90s kit:

Don Hutchison liverpool repainted corinthian

I've spoken before about the Adidas shirt with the 3 thick stripes on either side of the stomach being an absolute pain to paint! Well... I like this one! For some reason it's just easier to do; maybe because it doesn't need to be symmetrical!

Other comments on these figures; you'll probably notice that the sponsors are different on the first 2 than the last one. You may not have noticed that the club crest is also different on the last one. These were a set that I very much had to keep my phone nearby to google the differences before applying the decals!

Liverpool Managers

Well. Liverpool aren't going to win the league today. I mean obviously they will within a couple of weeks, but not today, like they would've hoped when the season restarted.

And for some reason, that made me decide to ;post up some pics of Liverpool manager repaints I've done recently:

I loved how this one turned out! I had a bit of bother with trying to fit the liver bird crest on it, and ended up both printing a smaller version, and having to thin those stripes a little!

roy evans custom liverpool manager corinthian figure

As for these 2, I was skeptical about how they would end up, to be honest- they were originally in suits, but with a bit of filing here, and polyfilla there, I think they ended up looking pretty good.

For some reason, it's the sponsors on the back that I am really fond of on these 3!

Liverpool 1991-92

Thought I'd go with some Liverpool figures the day after Everton. 3 players, all in the same kit:

You may have read some of my posts complaining about painting adidas designs before (That Liverpool 93-95 one...) but this one is actually pretty nice to paint!

And how could I possibly complain when I get to admire that Venison mullet from close proximity!

A couple of Fowlers

Wanna know what I just did?

Wrote, almost word for word, the same blog post I did about 2 weeks ago. Serves me write for not keeping my albums up to date, I suppose!

As a result, I've hastily thought, what pictures can I put up, and settled on a pair of Robbie Fowlers!

robbie fowler liverpool custom corinthian repaint 1993-95 kit

I've painted one like this before, and let me tell you something; those adidas stripes on the rib area are one of the biggest pains in the backside to do! So many different angles, lengths thicknesses etc to keep right and consistent!

I bet I even wrote the same on the blog when I did this one last!

robbie fowler custom corinthian repaint 1995-96

As for this one; I made sure I clarified with the buyer that he knew this is the kit corinthian made Liverpool in with their very first batch.

He said he knew, but wanted me to do it better! I'd say I did, tbf.

More accurate representation of the collar, proper number font, and 3 adidas stripes instead of 2 on the shoulders, and shorts. I think the sock tops were just plain white as well, on the originals.

Oh, and that hair too...

1980s Liverpool

Today, a team of children wearing Liverpool kits knocked Everton out of the FA Cup. Seems as good a reason as any to post some Liverpool repaints here:

You may have seen me post a similar Grobbelaar figure recently-ish... but it's my blog, so I'll do what I like!! This one was reproduced after someone took a shine to the first one, when it was posted on twitter.

Fun fact: I still don't know how to spell Grobbelaar without googling it... or having googled it for this blog post, at the very least thinking about it very hard.

As for Venison... I don't know if he had such a splendid mullet in his Liverpool days, but it seemed worth painting nonetheless, and I managed to sell this one on ebay, so at least one other person thought so too!

Liverpool Keepers

Here's a post for the goalkeepers' union; a couple of Liverpool keepers in unreleased kits:

I've gone with chronological order today!

Both enjoyable to paint... and I don't have much more to say! Maybe it's cos I've been catching up with all my figure related social media duties this morning!!

And with that in mind, find me by clicking the right word if you're a Facebook, Twitter or Instagram kind of person.

Or you could click here to find the youtube channel that I hardly ever add videos to!!

Fowler, Liverpool

It's the last day of the Premier League season, and so today will conclude one of the most relentless title races in years! I say relentless, rather than exciting because surely the odd unexpected defeat for contenders makes it more exciting than winning all the time, right?!

If anything, Man City and Liverpool are too good!

I was going to post a repaint for each team, but it seems that I have run out of Man City photos!

So... a Fowler repaint! To be honest, I prefer the other sculpt of Fowler, but this is the one I was sent to repaint into the 1993-95 kit. (Remember the days of a kit lasting more than 1 season?!)

I think it ended up pretty good. I love the number font (surprise, surprise!) but I'll tell you what: This Adidas design is very tricky!! The angles of the lines, and which are supposed to be longer etc was just confusing me all the way through!!

Anyway, that'll do for today. Sorry there was no City kit for balance! If you want to see more City repaints... order some!!

And...

May the best team win!
