Spurs 'D' section!

When it comes to Spurs, it looks pretty likely that I'll be sticking to alphabetical order!!

I painted most of them so long ago now, that I don't have any interesting tales about them, and I can't be bothered to go through and categorise them in any way!

So, with that in mind, here are the players beginning with D!!

 And, that's the post!

Mixed Spurs

 Another mixed post; let's do it! I haven't even checked who's up next in the Spurs section of my repaint album...

Well, we've definitely reached the stage where repaints that I don't think of as old were done at least 3 or 4 years ago.

This one, for example. I know lockdown has made a lot of things feel 3 or 4 years ago, but one thing I know for sure is: it's been quite a while since I took my photos in the location this one is in. You'll notice the sort of leafy wallpaper in the background of the newer ones!

But also, this is not so old that I look at it and immediately see 5 or 6 things I'm unhappy with!!

Note the wallpaper!! Fairly simple one this, though.

Aaaand 3 more that are a bit older. Aside from all the painting improvements, I've also got much better at photographing them!!

Hope this post cheers up any Spurs fans that see it a bit!

EDIT: Didn't realise til I started adding the tags- there are 3 different kinds of figures in here! 4 if you want to get even more picky about the figure types... which I generally don't!!

Tenuous Euros post, part 5

I'm back to kind of, sort of Euro 2020 related figures today! It's going to be a pundit special... cos I've exhausted my backlog of still active players!

 Ian Wright, in his Palace days. You've got to love Wright's punditry... I can't remember the exact phrasing, but the way he described Saka's performance the other day was great! Gloriously purposeful, or something like that?! 

EDIT: Found it, it was "Burdened with glorious purpose!"

On the flip side, Danny Murphy said "He looks a good keeper," about Donnarumma. That's the Donnarumma who's got 250 career appearances at 22, and is off to PSG this summer...

Anyway, here's a figure of Danny Murphy for Spurs that I painted years ago!!

You can tell how old this one is because i) it's definitely not my current standard ii) even the photography skills weren't as good back then!! and iii) the dead giveaway; I used to leave white boarders around the pics! That's the giveaway.

And last but not least:

Let's throw in another Shearer! I can't think of any specific examples of Shearer's recent punditry... other than picking Turkey as a dark horse... but I quite like him!

Tenuous Euros post, part 4

 I might be starting to run out of figures vaguely related to the Euros now... but until I've completely run out, let's keep cracking on!

I know I said that the last post was a bit Spurs heavy, but I couldn't resist starting this post with a figure that'll make you say: Townsend? I didn't realise he was doing punditry on ITV!

Tenuous Euros post, part 3

Yes, it's the post that none of you were waiting for! Let's crack straight on with some figures vaguely related to Euro 2020!

Lloris, who gave a penalty away yesterday by punching someone in the face! 

I can't tell you the full story of this figure. Clearly it's not an original corinthian of Lloris, cos he wasn't on the scene when they stopped making them. My best guess is that it's a remodel using a Soccerwe head... or a remodel using a lookalike from another corinthian that I'm unaware of. Anyway... I didn't remodel it!

Here's an away kit repaint of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink in his Leeds days. Hassebaink has done a bit of punditry in the Euros... on Netherlands games, I would guess.

He's done a bit of punditry on Leeds games over the last couple of years too... here's hoping that he does a few less when we can get back to grounds and the amount of games to be covered goes back to normal.

Speaking of pundits people want to hear less from...

Also, why does this Danny Murphy microstar look like it might steal my lunch money?!

And last but not least:

What would these posts be without a Kyle Walker Soccerstarz?! This one was requested in Spurs training kit... for some reason.

I didn't realise this post was so Spurs heavy until I did all the tags. Don't worry; I've got some more figures that are sort of related to the Euros to show you soon!

Tenuous Euro 2020 post, part 2

 More figures that have some relation to Euro 2020... but definitely not painted in Euro 2020 kits!

We have an active player! Here's Ben Davies, in his Spurs stuff. Davies has featured in all of Wales' games so far, as they have succesfully navigated the group stage for the second successive Euros.

Sticking with the Wales theme, Mark Hughes (here in Southampton kit) was a pundit for one of the Wales games... I don't think I've seen him on for any other teams!

Another pundit for the current Euros; Jurgen Klinsmann. Hair's a bit shorter these days, mind. Gary Lineker asked him if he'd be interested in the Spurs job after one match the other day, and, going against the grain of the 157 other managers Spurs have spoken to, Jurgen said that he would!

Good memories of playing in the above kits clearly an influencing factor!

And after a glorious, slightly boring 1-0 win for England, that definitely means that it might be coming home... here's Kyle Walker in an away kit from his early days at Spurs.

Spurs heavy post this one! I'll see what other minor Euros links I can dream up for another post soon!

Euro 2020 ish post...

 Well I haven't been here since April! If you follow my socials, you'll know I've not been taking any new orders due to real life work commitments. I have managed to get a bit of painting in, but absolutely zero blogging!!

As a result of lack of new orders, I don't have any specific Euros related figures, but how about some with tenuous links?!

Ian Wright may have never played in the Euros, but he's at this year's as a pundit! Here he is in Celtic kit!!

Sheva! Here he is in Milan European Cup final winning kit. It'd take a brave man to bet on him winning the Euros as manager of Ukraine!

Another of ITV's punditry team, and another European cup winner! Graeme Souness, in Liverpool kit.

A couple of active players... but not in their England kits! Kane and Walker soccerstarz in Spurs away kits. We need both of them to step up, I'd say. Not seen the best of either in this tournament yet.

And last, but certainly not least, the Yorkshire Pirlo: Kalvin Phillips! You'll notice this custom funko is in the number 7 shirt, and has different hair than Kalvin has now- I made it just after his England debut based on his appearance then.

And that's your lot for today. Hopefully giving you a few more pics than normal makes up for the absence. I'll try to not leave it so long next time... not least as I've got some more figures tenuously linked to the Euros!

Woodgate, Spurs

To prove I was telling you the truth yesterday, here are 2 Spurs Woodgates!

 I don't really have much to say about them, to be honest!! Other than you'd struggle to know that they were the same person, based on the differences of these 2 sculpts!

Spurs Sir Les, x3

Sorry to have missed a few days again; my actual job will go getting in the way of these things!

Anyway, it's been a while since I posted any Spurs figures, so here are a trio of Les Ferdinands.

I'm fairly sure this is from about 4 or 5 years ago, and while the paintwork looks pretty neat, it's funny the things I notice looking back on old ones. 

With this- it's the size of the shirt number! I'd do it smaller now. I think, when I first started, I had in my head that bigger was better for shirt numbers- probably thinking it made them clearer. Now I've learned that smaller ones can be just as clear!

This is definitely the pick of the 3, for my money! If you read this blog often, you'll know I love a clean line round the collar!!

 And this one... back in the olden days, I did not photograph figures well!!

Spurs- Mixed Bag

As the post title suggests, I thought I'd just post a real mixture of Spurs figures today! 

From the Spurs section in my repaints album, here are the first 4 alphabetically. I think this may be the way to go, when it comes to posting up some of the backlog!

Anderton, away. The neatness of the lines round the collar and the fact that i feel like I actually remember this one would suggest it's at least recent-ish!

As for these next 2, the background is a bit of a clue that I did these a while back- I've long since found the best place to take the pictures in my flat for good lighting!!

 And another recent one, and second Bale of the post, though in very different form!! I did this one as I thought it would go down well, and I managed to get the original figure reasonably cheaply!

After putting it on my Instagram, I ended up sending this to a Spurs fan in the USA!

I do have one more Bale funko, but feel Bale's lack of minutes on the pitch might make it a bit of a risk with regards to selling afterwards. Thinking about the sale, and just doing another different figure that interests me, Wales 2016 comes to mind...

3 Lennons

Assuming Liverpool don't score 8 more goals in their game against Leicester, Spurs will be ending the weekend top of the pile. So, I thought I'd post some pictures of a player that has nothing to do with Spurs currently being top!!

As is often the case with figures that I painted quite a while ago, I don't really have much to tell you about them. But, there's 3 of them, eh?!

Sheringham XLs

 Today seems as good a day as any for some Sheringham XL figures; 3 in fact!

I'm pretty sure I've painted more XLs of Sheringham than anyone else! Les Ferdinand second!

Can't be bothered writing mush today, so thought I'd treat you to 4 pics!!

Sullivan, Spurs x2

I have this ridiculous idea in my head that, somehow what I post here has a bearing on real life football results (see my pattern of posting Leeds and Sheffield United figures in April/May time of last season...)

As a result I thought I'd steer well clear of teams I have a vested interest in today, and just go for a couple of Spurs goalie pics!

 Te orange kit was painted more recently, but I think I prefer the black one. It may have been one of my first little dabbles with blending colours on the shirt while the paint was still wet (tat bit high up on the chest around the badge)

I've done it a few more times since, most recently with the Leeds Domi figure that fades orangey-yellow to light yellow and back again!

Mido x2, Spurs

I'm on a bit of a roll with the blog posts at the moment, so thought i'd keep it going with a couple of Spurs figures- still probably the club that I have most ' unblogged' photos of. (It's a competition with Leeds!)

It's a couple of Midos today!

 Evidently they are from different seasons, as they have different squad numbers and sponsors.

I did the away kit quite a while ago, whereas the home white kit is a fairly recent one. Other than that, I don't have much to say about them!

Dalmat, Spurs x3

Been a while since I posted any Spurs figures, so:

3 Stephane Dalmat figures, in the 3 kits he wore when he played for Spurs. I remember thinking he was going to be great... this was probably almost entirely based on a management game I was playing at the time...

In case you were wondering, these aren't Corinthian figures. I googled, and the first few results just say "Marseilles- Club released figures", so I guess Marseilles just made them themselves.

My opinion of the quality of the figures; they aren't great. Very light weight and the likeness isn't great, is it?!

At least it has a decent paint job now!
