1990s Sunderland

Sunderland today.

I considered making these figures into 2 blog posts... then I remembered that, in spite of my recent efforts to blog more frequently, the number of photos in my repaints album has still gone up!

So, here are 5 recent Sunderland repaints!

Lee Clark... and what a kit...

michael gray custom sunderland corinthian figure

kevin phillips custom sunderland corinthian figure

Both of these 2 are 'lookalike' figures. There was a prototype for Michael Gray made in the 90s but it never made it to release. It had a glorious 1990s center-parting, in case you wondered.

As for Phillips, well, you may know that a figure of him did make it to release, in England 2000 kit. I pointed that out to the guy who asked for this, and he said: Yeah, but it looks nothing like him!!

I described this on my Facebook page as the Phillips figure that Sunderland fans didn't even know that they needed!

jeraine defoe custom sunderland corinthian repainted figure

As for these 2; Sorensen is a pretty standard repaint, but I absolutely love the Defoe one!

Defoe, Sunderland

Here's a repaint that I did using a figure from my box of spares... basically cos I thought it might sell on eBay!

Jermaine Defoe in this year's Sunderland kit!

I was pleased with how it ended up. I thought the gold trim on the kit looks good!

It didn't sell on eBay, so if you're interested in it, just get in contact with me!

Come on Sunderland fans!

Wes Brown, Sunderland.

When I got a job lot of figures a while back, one of them was football's most interesting man Wes Brown.

I painted this in the hope that, being as it was relatively current, someone might take it off my hands on ebay... they haven't yet.

I was pleased with the end result of this one, anyway. And if nothing else, it's one less Man Utd figure in the world!

Phillips, Sunderland

Quite surprised Corinthian didn't make this figure in the first place, tbh; Phillips did bag 30 goals to become the Premier League's top scorer in 2000.

This figure, however, was only made in England kit.

I did this for a friend of mine who is a Sunderland fan as a Christmas/sorry I didn't fill in the 'Pointless' application form' present. It went down pretty well!

His exact words were: "THANK YOU!!!!!!!! IT'S AWESOME!!!!!!"
