Hendrie x2(!) Leeds

So, in a recent post, I stated that if I have duplicates/ the same figures in home and away kits, I'd stick 'em in the same blog post. With that in mind, I give you John Hendrie!

I painted the home kit Hendrie ages ago... apparently I did photos differently then too!!

I did the away one more recently, and am very pleased with it to be honest!

In case you wondered, John Hendrie played 27 times for Leeds in the 89-90 promotion campaign, bagging 5 goals. He never got a chance for us in the top flight though, moving to Middlesbrough shortly afterwards.

Here he is in the away kit:

Adam, Blackpool

This is the second Charlie Adam figure that I've posted on this blog... but it won't be the last!

The first Adam figure was also a Soccerstarz (he wasn't made as a Prostar, as far as I'm aware) but it was wearing the kit Blackpool wore in the playoff final.

This customer chose to have the kit Blackpool sported in the Premier League instead!

Tho it isn't that clear from the picture, I also painted the little white stripes on the socks that you can see on this photo!

Beardsley, Man City

I think Peter Beardsley may be the player I have repainted into the most different kits! I have done him in Hartlepool, Vancouver WhitecapsBolton and now Man City colours!

As implied above, Beardsley had quite a few clubs! His Man City spell was short and... sweet?! He played just 6 times, and didn't find the net.

Interesting trivia tho (according to wiki!) This move made him the only player to play for both top flight teams in Manchester and Liverpool!

Here he is in his City days:

Sam, Spurs

Tells you something about the order that I post the pictures in, and the backlog of pics I have, when I say that this figure was a Christmas present!

I worked with Sam's dad to find a suitable lookalike figure, and then he chose the kit, shirt number and even boots to make this a great likeness of his son!

I was told afterwards that Sam commented: "It's even got the right boots!"... dad said that this was down to Santa knowing his stuff!

If you would like a similar present for a friend or relative, get in contact by commenting here, or give me a message on Facebook or Twitter! I'm sure we'll be able to sort something out!

Hasselbaink, Leeds x2!

You may have noticed that a large number of the repaints I do are Leeds United figures. Until recently, they were predominantly for me.  Now, I have 2 returning, and very enthusiastic Leeds supporting customers!

So, from now, you may be seeing a few duplicates! Due to one of these customers' fondness for away kits, I'm also getting to do a few differently than I did for my own collection, which keeps it interesting!

Here are a couple of Hasselbainks!

I'd already done Jimmy in a home kit, so that's why I've stuck 2 pictures in this post! I might have to do that a bit more in future to catch up on my picture backlog!

Roberto, Olympiakos

Here's an Olympiakos repaint that I did ages ago, but that has slipped thro the net, with regards to being posted on this blog so far!

I think the reason I haven't posted it so far is that it bothers me a little bit that it's a keeper, but with an outfield player pose. (I should quickly add that the customer didn't mind this)

I've been saying for ages that I want to learn to swap the heads on figures- since my Escape to Victory figures, I think!

Maybe I'll finally do it this summer...

Here's Roberto:

Ehiogu remodel, Leeds

When I first posted my Ugo Ehiogu repaint a while back, I stated that I would love to try remodeling the hair to make it look more like he did during his time at Leeds.

Well, eventually, I did it!

That's the 'before' image on the left, just in case anyone's struggling to work it out!

This was one of the first remodels I did. I am pleased with it, but to be completely honest, I feel that I could do it better if I did it again now! I think my Bony remodel shows that.

Nonetheless, this was an important part of the learning curve!

Bojinov, Man City

Here's another Man City repaint.

I'll admit- to me, Bojinov is just one of the influx of signings that City made when they first got their millions that I can tell you pretty much nothing about. I even had to google him, to check what his first name is. It's Valeri *sniggers*

Anyway, this repaint came along just fine. Quite a nice straightforward kit, really!

City also had dark blue numbering and lettering on their shirts at this time, which, due to a technicality that would be boring to explain, I much prefer doing!

This image shows not only the kit, but also the boots I did on the repaint!

Segers, Spurs

This is the second time I've done Segers in this kit... which means I've done one repaint per first team start he had at Spurs!

I never actually got round to posting a pic of the first version here... and being as this version is considerably better, I don't think I'll bother!!

Here is the lesser spotted Tottenham Hans Segers!

...Maybe I should have also put some grey in the hair!!

Matthews, Blackpool

I've said before that, sometimes, the simplest kits are the most effective repaints. I'd say this is definitely one of those times:

When I finished doing this, I was delighted with it!

"The Matthews Final" is such an iconic moment in English football that it surprised me that a) Corinthian never made this one and b) I've never seen a repaint of it either.

The customer loved it too!

Are you getting how pleased I was with this repaint?!

White, Leeds

I have previously declared my repainted Haaland figure as the jewel in the crown of my collection... his position has been usurped!

Long live the king!

I suppose I should clarify for those without an in depth knowledge of Leeds United Corinthians (losers!) that my love for this figure is nothing to do with White's, in honesty, average career for Leeds, and all about the rarity of this figure.

This figure was unreleased. It didn't go on general sale. I managed to get hold of it on ebay... by paying an arm and a leg! I love it tho... and it was paid for completely by money from repaints, so it wasn't too bad! :)

I was undecided about whether I should even paint it, but concluded that I paid for it; I have no intention of selling it, and therefore can do what I like with it to make it fit in with my collection.

And I think it looks great!

2014 Costa Rica squad... the last bit!

Well, you made it! Here are the final 2 Costa Ricans from the full 2014 World Cup Squad that I painted!

I give you:

Marco Urena:
and

Jose Miguel Cubero:

And that's it! I have painted more Costa Rica players than any other International team!

Oh, and Cubero felt that his figure was worth a fave and a RT:

400 up!

My Facebook page has reached another milestone!

Have a gander!

I've just reached 400 likes! Wooooooooooooooooo!

Thanks for all the support!

Giggs, Man U away

After doing a Cantona figure in this kit, I decided to do Giggs in the same one, and see how it went on ebay.

It didn't, is the short version, but ultimately, I put it in the Figures for Sale album on my Facebook page, and it has, for the time-being at least, been reserved!

For some reason, a quick google didn't return a pic of Giggs in this kit, so this image will have to do!

If you want a Man Utd figure repainted into this kit, or any other for that matter, contact me in via facebook. twitter or comment below.

Vieira, City

Fresh from the news that I'll be doing some more Man City repaints in the coming weeks, I thought I'd better get some more of my City back catalogue posted on my blog!

Here's Patrick Vieira:

Vieira moved to City from Inter in the 2009-10 season, and stayed on the next year. He made 32 appearances for them, including a late substitute appearance in the FA Cup final victory over Stoke.

He also chipped in with 6 goals in his time at the Etihad. He is now in a Youth development role at the club.

Here he is in his playing days, to compare the repaint to:

Remember when I just used to talk about the figure in this blog?! Maybe I didn't here because it's quite a plain kit, and I just have to talk about something!

Lampard, Swansea

Here's a kit that I've done before, albeit on a different figure.

Unbeknownst to many, Frank Lampard had a brief loan spell at Swansea City in 1995-96, where he played 9 times, and scored once.

As I said last time I painted this kit, there is something deliciously mid-90s, lower league about it!

Fun to paint!

Anyway, here's Frank (in a long sleeved version of the shirt!)

Jermaine Wright, Leeds

You can add this to the list of figures that, purely on their performances for Leeds, don't really deserve a repaint!

Be they trialists, one game heroes, or general Leeds flops, I've certainly done a few!

This figure actually begun life as Chris Armstrong, but I had it spare, and felt that it looked enough like Wright to be considered. I also fancied doing a different Leeds kit!

I can't even find a picture of him in this kit online!

Dominguez, Spurs

Jose Dominguez... I'm running out of things to say about some of these Spurs figures!

While I never remember Dominguez really shining for Spurs, I do remember him having a goal of the month contender once!!

This was a decent little kit to do... adidas stripes are always a challenge. Sometimes I enjoy them!

Here's a pic to compare it to.
