Wiekens, Man City

I think I'm right in saying I've already done a Wiekens figure for my Man City regular, though that one was in the famous play-off final kit.

This kit is just as distinctive in it's own way, though not quite as bright!

Sometimes asymmetric kits prove to be more difficult to get looking just right... but I painted this so long ago now that I can't remember if this was one of those times or not!!

Being a lookalike figure, it also had the extra job of filling in the name on the base, and whacking a new one on there!

Dawson, Spurs x3

Following the last Spurs post (containing 3 Rebrovs) here is another containing 3 of the same figure!

I like all of these! I'm getting some more practice at captain's arm bands (top pic!) but I think my favourite of these 3 is the last one.

Get used to seeing these... I've just been sent 7 more Dawsons! I think the customer is embarking on a quest to get him done in every kit he wore for Spurs!

Ian Harte, Leeds

Here's a figure that I wouldn't have painted when I first started!

Ian Harte was released in the Leeds kit from the season after this. And in the beginning, I would have been happy with that!

As my collection expanded though, that Champions League season squad got increasingly full. I added players that weren't releases in that kit, such as Woodgate, Mills and Matteo and suddenly Harte's  omission started to look all wrong!

He was such an important player to the run that I decided I needed him as part of that squad; especially now that my figures are on display... and in number order!

So, that's how this figure, which is basically a bit of yellow around the collar and cuffs different from the official release came about!

Boyd, Celtic away

Another Celtic repaint, another recurring kit, another that makes it onto the '6 of the worst Old Firm kits of all time' according to the Daily Record!

I don't know if it's the amount of times I've painted it or what, but the kit is actually growing on me... in spite of it being described as a 'Particular abomination' in the aforementioned article, as well as being put on a par with Coventry's chocolate brown number! Surely not!!

Here's the real thing, worn by Celtic in 1991/92 (and featured on uglyfootballkits.co.uk!)

Evatt, Blackpool

Here's the first Blackpool figure I've done in a while: Ian Evatt, from their season in the Premier League!

As is often the case with this particular customer, he asked for several extra details!!

Note the boots, the PL sleeve badges, 'frown' lines on the forehead and stubble.

All extra work, but made for a good detailed repaint!

Here's Evatt in real life... not exactly his best moment, but one of the few pics I could find in this kit!!

Ireland, Man City

Well, my Man City regular has started requesting Soccerstarz! Here's one of the first:

This was a fairly simple repaint, but ended up looking pretty effective.

Even the white name and number showed up quite well!!

I don't have much to say about it, really!

Richards, Leeds

Scraping the bottom of the barrel a bit with this one, for my own collection!

Micah Richards was part of the Leeds Youth set-up in the mid 90s... until he was about 8 years old!!

That's why I did this repaint on a Soccerstarz (yep, cos it's smaller!) rather than a Prostar figure... tho knowing me, I'll probably end up doing it on a Prostar too!

Just to emphasise the ridiculousness of this repaint even more, there are no pictures of Richards in Leeds stuff anywhere to be found... and as I have had it rightly pointed out to me, youth teams don't usually have the same sponsors as the first team!

Still, another figure to the collection!!

A trio of Rebrovs, Spurs

I might be remembering incorrectly, but I thought Rebrov was a bit of a flop for Spurs!

I think the chances are, I AM remembering correctly, but the 'collector factor' overrides that!

Why else would one of my regulars ask for Rebrov in 3 different kits?!

I don't know why, but for some reason, the middle one is my favourite of the three!

O'Donnell, Celtic away

Considering this is usually mentioned in conversations about Celtic's worst ever kit, it's been requested quite a few times now!

So much so, that I don't really have much else to say about it!

I've enjoyed painting it, and I particularly like the Umbro number font... tho I like how pretty much any number fonts look, as long as they're accurate!!

I couldn't find a pic of O'Donnell in this kit with a quick Google, so I'll just put this here:

It's from an article entitled: Six of the Best... Worst Old Firm kits!

Windass, Hull

I haven't done many Hull City repaints (It stands at 2 now, actually!) but here's one representing a really significant time in their history!

Dean Windass was an important figure in their 2008 promotion to the Premier League, scoring the winning goal in the playoff final.

This figure... maybe could have done with a bit more round the middle! But apart from that, I thought it was a pretty good likeness!

I even did his white boots!

Adebayor, Man City

I've done a few Adebayor repaints, and every time, I seem to mention what a low maintenance pleasure to manage he has proved to be to his teams...

This City incarnation is one of those where a simple kit ended up looking very effective.

Even the white number/sky blue shirt combo looks ok!!

Here's a pic to compare the repaint to:

Leeds, Subbuteo

Here's the first (of at least 3!) extra large Subbuteo figures that I've been asked to paint into Leeds colours:

The kit chosen was a late 1970s Leeds shirt, and the number 10 of Tony Currie.

It was fairly enjoyable to paint; being bigger made it easier to do details... it was just the base that took ages, and used loads of paint!!

Being as loads of people asked how big it actually was when I posted it on my Facebook page, here's a pic of it next to some normal Prostars.

So, yeah, it's pretty big!

And here's the kit I did on it, to compare it to:

Spurs, Purple!

I lived in Spurs territory as a kid, and remember loads of my friends having this kit!

I remember thinking of it as just purple, but closer inspection showed it to be purple and dark blue stripes.

It was a nice one to paint. I haven't used much purple before! The badges and sponsors show up well, which I always like.

I got to use a different number font to use too!

And obviously, I had to post them here in number order, especially as they are consecutive!

Here's a pic of the it in real life, for comparison.

Stubbs, Celtic

I actually did this Alan Stubbs, Celtic away repaint ages ago, but because I'd already posted pics of a couple of other players wearing it (Wright and Burchill) I thought I'd hold on before posting it here!

It's quite a nice kit to repaint! I actually prefer thin stripes or hoops to thicker ones! I find them easier to keep consistent!

Here's a pic of Stubbs in the kit for real to compare it to:
