Bruce, Gillingham

It's gonna be a short post tonight, as I should be going to bed, to be quite honest with you.

Buuuuuut; Gillingham figure? OK then.

I'm guessing it won't surprise many that this is my first, and thus far, only Gillingham figure!

I didn't even know Bruce played for them, to be honest! There are a couple of other potential Gillingham repaints that I know of; Tommy Johnson and Rod Wallace both had short spells at Priestfield, so get in touch if you want them, Gills fans!!

It's a decent little repaint this; fairly simple, until it came to the sleeves and side of the shorts! The kit manufacturer (whose name escapes me) decided to put their logo down the sleeves! I think I did an alright job of them though!

Chiesa, Fiorentina

It's Fiorentina Friday!

That's a thing, right?!

Ok, so really I'm just posting this cos I had a look through my repaints album and noticed this was the only Fiorentina figure I hadn't posted here.

I'm gonna out and say that purple is a pain in the backside to paint!! I've only ever found gloss purple in the humbrol range, and when I try to mix it myself, it takes ages and is pretty difficult to get right.

This kit was ok; maybe could have done with being a bit brighter. I'll be keeping an eye out for options. Fortunately, I don't get many purple orders!

De Wolf, Feyenoord

I declared this figure as my first ever Feyenoord repaint when I put it on my Facebook page a couple of weeks ago... then, upon having a quick album sort, I soon realised I was wrong!!

Let's say it's my first repaint for a Feyenoord fan!! (The other was for a big Henrik Larsson fan!!)

Anyway, here's De Wolf:

Lovely!

My favourite details on this one are definitely the Adidas logo in the number, and the trim around the collar!

I also did a few other adaptations to this one, including adding a more substantial beard than was present on the original Ginola figure, and mixing some blonde and brown tones to create De Wolf's trademark locks!! I was very happy with the hair!

Sidwell, Brighton

Today seems as good a day as any to post my first ever Brighton figure to the blog!

Steve Sidwell:

I guess this is one of those figures that some people might be surprised there ever was a Corinthian figure of! He got produced in his Chelsea days, surprise surprise, but looks much better in his Brighton kit!

The kit chosen was the one he wore on the day of scoring an incredible halfway-line goal against Bristol City.

Leeds 05/06 Tonkas

To continue with the Leeds kit history through Tonka figures, here's 2005-06; still the closest Leeds have come to returning to the Premier League. Yet...

I was a big fan of this home kit; loved the pinstripes, and we had a decent season wearing it too. Although, the less said about the last game the better...

We wore this one for the away leg against Preston and Billy 'Job Done' Davies. It's still one of my favourite memories as a Leeds fan. I only secured my ticket about an hour before kick off! One of the perks of living in Preston at the time!

That game is also the reason for putting Richardson's name on this one- he scored the important second goal to put us 3-1 up on aggregate, a lead that even Leeds couldn't throw away despite being reduced to 9 men...

Sheffield United 05/06

I think I'm right in saying that these are repaints of 2 players who featured in Sheff United's promotion season in 05/06:

They certainly fit "The Warnock Model", that being: sign any player that used to play in the Premier League and is willing to come!

A couple of nice repaints tho! I mentioned how much better I think I am at stripes these days in a previous post, but a plain backed shirt certainly makes things easier!!

As for the figures themselves; two things of note.

1. Shipperley was definitely carrying a bit more timber by the time he played for the Blades!!
2. What was Flitcroft thinking, taking the number 3 shirt?!

Muppets.

I'm taking a slight change of tack with the style of prose on this blogpost. Let me know what you think.

This sausage thinks Leeds should get a points deduction despite not breaking any football league rules.

PAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

As for this numpty:

He has far more rationally suggested that the game should be replayed!

It's actually hilarious!!

No offence intended to Forest/Leicester fans... you can still buy your figures from me.

Derby fans... you can too, as long as you don't mind me looking at the players...

Atletico Madrid x2

Those of you that read this blog regularly (anyone?!) will know that I often say: I enjoy the chance to try different kits for the first time.

Well, I have done one Atleti figure before, but this batch let me loose on 5 different kits!

Here are the first 2:

Yes... they are in number order, because I don't really know which shirt came first timewise!

I don't know if I'm imagining it, but I feel I've become massively better at striped kits over the last... I'm gonna say six months or so!

I was very happy with these repaints. For those playing 'Marc Blog Bingo' I'm gonna mention how happy I am with the number fonts too!

To be completely honest, the bases aren't my cup of tea, but the guy who requested them seemed happy enough!

Overall, a pleasing pair. Ooh, er matron!!

"Sam B"

And with this post, I'm all out of stockpiled City repaints!! So, if any City fans want to see more... order some from me!

Anyway, about today's figure:

This figure was ordered as a birthday present. The customer and I discussed possible lookalike figures, and then, he specified the required kit, including name and shirt number, the name on the base, and the boots!

If you would like something similar for a friend, relative, colleague, milkman etc just get in contact via the links in the header, or use the comment box below!

Crouch, Spurs

As he scored on Saturday (albeit for Stoke) and Spurs are playing tonight, I thought I'd make today's post a Peter Crouch tribute... in Spurs kits.

So, it's either doubly relevant or irrelevant to current football events; I can't decide!

This first picture is of Crouchy in his youth team days at White Hart Lane! The customer and I guessed at number 9, and also thought that names on shirts were unlikely at that level; and that time!!

And here we have the same kit, on both Micro and Prostar sized figures. I always found the idea of Microstar sized Crouch figures funny; at least with the Prostar size there is the tall, skinny body variant!!

I think the face on the Prostar is more accurate too.

Interesting to see that he got 2 different Microstar versions as well! Go on, scroll back up to check. I can tell you want to!!

They have different body poses, and slightly different faces.

And that's it for the Crouch tribute post. If you need some more Crouchy in your life... I dunno, go and listen to his podcast, or something!! Or order a repaint of him from me, I guess?!

AS Monaco x3

Happy New Year to one and all!

So, it's the 7th of January; I just like to think that I'm being fashionably late!

To kick of the year, here are a few AS Monaco repaints:

I've said before that I do enjoy a nice, distinctive kit, and no-one has a kit quite like Monaco!!

I enjoyed doing these- I don't think I've done a diagonally halved shirt before, but it wasn't too tricky!

On the Prso figure, I gave the buyer the option of smaller name and number, or just number, as if his ponytail were covering the name. To be honest, I would have probably chosen the second, but I think it looks ok as is, He was happy anyway!

Keep an eye out for more Monaco figures in future,,, possibly even one that can only be described as hot off the press... metaphorically!
