Thompson, Sheff U

One last fling at activating the blog post curse!

Sheffield United at home to Ipswich... I mean, there's a coupon buster in the making, am I right??!

*slowly starts to weep*

Anyway, here's one of the last figures available to the collector who I've been doing these for... although there are still quite a few others I haven't posted here anyway!

In case you didn't know (and I didn't before painting this) Phil Thompson had a 2 year stay at Sheffield United in the 1980s.

According to Wiki, he "couldn't settle", but still managed 37 appearances for the Blades before retiring.

...

COME ON IPSWICH!!

Leighton, Sheff Utd

You remember when I had that theory that posting pictures of a team on this blog jinxed that team?

Well, in case it's still working in any way, I'm thinking of posting Sheffield United players for the rest of the season!

Here's Jim Leighton

One for the 'completist' collector, this. Leighton joined the Blades on loan in the 92/93 season, but never actually played a game for them!!

Squad numbers weren't in use at that point, hence the educated guess at number 13, and of course, no name on the shirt.

I always enjoy painting a pinstriped kit!

And if Sheffield United lose to Ipswich on Saturday now, I'll know it's either down to this, or my lucky underpants!

Roy of the Rovers reboot

Well, it's been a while since a Melchester Rovers figure appeared here, so here's one in the kit from the new version of Roy of the Rovers!

In the reboot, the kit is sponsored by the Totally Football Show, and the kit is made by Hummel. You can't see it on this picture, but the sleeves and shorts feature the Hummel chevrons!

The club crest has also been redesigned, and now features a lion!

I changed the boots to red, and also changed his eye colour! I left the hair, but have had it suggested to me that it would look good in a comic book style bright yellow. What do you reckon?

I also found it interesting that the new Roy wears number 14, as opposed to his traditional 9.

Beardsley, Liverpool

As Liverpool are playing tonight, why not a Liverpool repaint for today's blog post?! It also gives me the chance to test the 'Lucky/Jinx' theory about posting figures on the day teams are playing.

Peter Beardsley:

If repainting has taught me nothing else, it's that Peter Beardsley has had a lot of clubs!

I've done him in Man City, Bolton (twice) Fulham, Hartlepool and even Vancouver Whitecaps as well as this Liverpool kit! I'm currently doing him in a Newcastle kit that wasn't made by Corinthian too!

To complete the set I'd need to do Everton, Carlise, Man United (who knew?!) and Melbourne Knights! I think I've got a spare Beardsley or 2, so maybe I will do at least a couple of them!!

With regards to this one, it was pretty simple, though I did do a minor remodel- filling in the open part of the collar.

There was a lot of interest in this, after I put it on my Facebook page- I didn't even need to list it on ebay; I received offers on it before doing so! Maybe i should just use the spare Beardsleys for more Liverpool figures!!

O'Leary, Leeds remodel

One of the more unique figures from my own collection; a player remodel of David O'Leary, who was only produced as a manager figure.

For those of you that didn't know, O'Leary had a short spell at Leeds as a player at the tail end of his career. Wilkinson saw him as the ideal player to share the benefit of his experience with our young centre halves, such as Wetherall and Newsome. Unfortunately he spent most of the time injured, but Wilko maintained that he had a big positive impact on the defence.

I was pleased with this- I'm still learning when it comes to head swaps, or as I've also seen them called Frankenstein figures, which I really liked!!

Anyway, it doesn't look like it has too much or too little neck, which is the biggest problem I've encountered with these!

As for the kit; it's one of my faves- my first ever proper replica shirt, complete, of course with the proper Asics font for the shirt name and number.

Fabregas, Monaco

If this post makes no sense, I apologise. I'm only doing it to distract myself before heading off to Elland Road for another huge game in the promotion hunt.

Sheffield Wednesday are the opposition, in case you wondered, and thus far, I have done one nervous poo, also in case you wondered.

Erm... here's Fabregas.

I like this one! I originally bought the Fabregas figure thinking of doing a Chelsea figure for ebay, but when I never got round to it, and opportunity arose this transfer window!

Nice traditional kit, nice club specific number font... and I always enjoy adding a beard!!

A couple of other bits of info about this one: it ended up selling via my Facebook page, and also Cesc himself 'liked' the picture on Instagram!

Aimar, Valencia

I've never posted a Valencia figure on this blog... until now!!

Here's Pablo Aimar:

Other than saying it's the first Valencia figure I've done, there isn't much more to say about it!

A pretty standard repaint, really.

Big Bad Batten! Bath City

I've probably done more Bath City repaints than you'd expect!

More than I've done of Barcelona, in fact!!

Here are the latest 2:

Home and away kits here. As it was a lookalike figure, I had to change the hair colour, and add the beard.

I also added the back sponsor, above the shirt number, which I don't often do, but was requested here.

I was very happy with the home kit especially- I don't recall doing anything quite like those 'stripes across stripes' before. I think it looks great, as did the buyer, and Jack Batten himself!

Kane and Dier, Spurs

Big game for Spurs yesterday, and very unfortunate in defeat.

Here's something to raise your spirits, though, Spurs fans!

Dier and Kane Soccerstarz, repainted into 2014/15 kit.

I was pleased with these! Soccerstarz are pretty tiny, and these ended up looking as neat as I could've hoped for!
