Atletico keeper Soccerstarz

Atletico have had some pretty decent keepers, right?!

Here are 2 of them:

The Courtois repaint was a pretty straightforward one, but how about those sleeves on the De Gea figure?! Love them, and they were specifically commented on by the buyer too!

It must be tough for Atletico, looking back at these keepers who have left them, and having to settle for *checks notes* Oblak... as you were.

... It's bothering me slightly that I haven't cropped the De Gea photo quite enough. Not enough to do anything about it, mind.

Didn't notice? It's all you'll see now!! Get your eyes back on those sleeves!!

Gazza x4!

Well, there's a heatwave, and I've played football in it this morning. As a result, I'm feeling lethargic and a bit sunburnt!

I've not got the energy to even type much by way of an explanation here today, so I thought I'd make it up to you with extra pictures!!

Here are 4 Gazzas in Spurs kit:

A few of the things you might be wondering about-

1. Corinthian made a few different sculpts of Gazza.
2. I changed the hair colour on the Euro 96 sculpt for three of these.
3. The name on the back of the shirt in the third pic was buyer preference
4. He wore the kit from the bottom picture in a charity game.

Any more questions?! Leave me a comment!

Project: Matthews Final!

It's been a long while since I posted any Blackpool figures to the blog!

2016 being the last time they made an appearance!

But, the guy who wanted those figures has been back in touch, and is putting together a Matthews Final XI.

Obviously Stan himself aside, it's going to be lookalike figures, and here are the first 3:

Two defenders from the team; Eddie Shimwell and Harry Johnston. Shimwell was a bit of a surprise to me, as, if I'd had to take a punt, I'd have assumed that Jimmy Armfield was the right back, but he came into the Blackpool first team scene a year later... according to Wiki.

I was also surprised to find out that Johnston was captain; I thought Stan was a cert for that role! Amazing what painting little plastic footballers can teach you!!

And let's not forget the boss: Joe Smith; chosen due to his immaculate side parting!

Elway, Denver Broncos

Another day, another blog post that I'll start by describing as 'a bit different'!

It's my first American Football figure! To be honest, you could fit what I know about American Football onto a Corinthian figure, and I said as much to the guy that requested this!

But, crucially, I also said, "As long as you can get me clear pictures of the kit, then I can paint it!"

And he did. So I did.

Not too different to painting a footballer, really. No sponsor, but an extra number on the front, and the only major difference was those big shoulder pads!!

Anyway, the guy that ordered it liked it! He commented that it looked better than the ones they released in the same kit!

Ice Hockey and American Football down... Basketball player next?!

Luke Ayling Funko

Hi everyone! Sorry that it's been a while, but I am on holiday!!

Anyway, here's something that will hopefully make up for the lack of recent blog posts: My first ever Funko Pop Repaint.

It started life as a Zlatan Ibrahimovic figure, which I bought with the intention of doing in Milan, Barca or LA Galaxy kit, just as an experiment really, and to see if it would go for a decent amount on ebay!

But, for some reason, I couldn't get myself motivated to paint it. Until I decided to transform it into Leeds defender Luke Ayling! The hair was right; all I had to do was add a bit more to the beard... and change the kit of course.

Something I found interesting about repainting this is that the body isn't actually much bigger than a Corinthian Prostar. It's just the head that is significantly different, but obviously that doesn't impact on the painting much anyway.

The slightly bigger size meant that adding a few more details, such as 'Leeds United' on the socks and the extra Kappa Logos on the sleeves was pretty easy!

If you fancy getting my thoughts on this figure through the medium of a YouTube video, you're probably best off clicking here!

Adebayor, Spurs x2

I had a quick scan down my list of blog posts, and thought to myself: it's been a while since I did any Spurs ones!

Sooo... I had a scroll down my repaints folder of pics, and when I got to Spurs, these were the first! They're stored alphabetically, after all!

As much as Adebayor has been a bit of a maligned character, I think he was pretty decent when he could be bothered!! I like this sculpt too! As for the repaint; I think this is one of those cases of clear straight well executed lines (if I say so myself!!) elevating a pretty straightforward kit to being a great repaint!

This one's alright as well!!

Bournemouth

It's been a long while since I posted any Bournemouth figures here! And it's fair to say Bournemouth have come a long way since I did!

Here are some from a recent order:

Love this one! It's the first time I've used a fluorescent paint, and I think it came out great!

Artur Boruc, who has recently regained his place in the Bournemouth first team.

And here's an outfield player too- Sylvain Distin, who had made 16 appearances for Bournemouth in 2015-16.

It's Coming Holme!

And now for something completely different!

OK, not completely! Still Corinthian repaints, with a dash of remodelling thrown in, but not something I've done much of before.

Here's a figure based on a Football Manager '19 regen player, as featured in the YouTube series: "It's Coming Holme".

Basically, the guy who presents the channel made up a team (Holme FC) and put them in the lowest league possible. I think it was 3 or 4 divisions below the Conference. Anyway, Mick Powell, or should I say Sir Mick Powell(?!) emerged as a teenager in the first season, and scored in every division on the way to the Premier League.

As a result, I decided to make a figure of him, and send it to the guy who makes the videos. And here he is:

I was pleased with how it turned out, and it got some very nice comments from Lollujo himself, and many people who watch the channel. It has even featured in a few of the videos.

Incidentally, there has been some debate over whether the Holme shirt is dark green or black! I went with dark green for this one.

And where would Sir Mick be without his inspirational manager?!

I threw this figure in too! Minor remodel on the hair, and a pair of glasses stolen from a Lars Lagerback figure which I had used for another remodel!
