Helder Costa, Home and Away Funkos

Since my first couple of Leeds Funko figures, they have certainly taken off! I've done half the squad now, and I'm certain there are more to come!

Here is another that needed a bit of remodelling work on the hair: Helder Costa:

I think this is also the first time that I've posted a pic of the away kit to this blog, though you may have seen it on Instagram or Facebook.

I was happy with how it came out, though I need to investigate alternative pink paints; not because of how it looks, but because of how many coats I needed to add to get to this stage!

Anyway, I've done this remodel 3 times, I think (2 home, 1 away) and all the buyers were pleased with them. It was also worth a flame emoji reply from the man himself on Instagram... so that's a thing that happened!

A couple of Sheff United Microstars

It's been a tough return, post lockdown for Sheffield United... so naturally a post displaying some figures in Sheffield United kits will make them all feel better, right?!

Here's Dellas (No Filter!!) I can't remember what kit this was in originally, (Roma at a guess) but I remember it being a bit of a surprise to me that he'd played for the Blades, though I think I did have that knowledge somewhere in the recesses of my mind! 

Anyway, a nice little repaint. A different coloured collar always helps to make a repaint look a bit sharper, I think! 

And on to Beattie! Although I completed these both quite a while ago (at least a year, probably more) and the fact that I've stated I think I've really come on with stripes in recent times... this looks pretty good!

QPR, XL Subbuteo Figures

Pretty much summed up by the title, this post!

Here are a couple of QPR Subbuteo XLs that I finished recently.

I mean, I'm still on furlough, so does recently mean a day ago, last week, 3 months ago; no-one knows!

I'm gonna come clean and say: I have quite a dislike for painiting hoops; probably just because I've had less practice at it than stripes. Nontheless, I'd say these came out pretty well.

Liverpool Managers

Well. Liverpool aren't going to win the league today. I mean obviously they will within a couple of weeks, but not today, like they would've hoped when the season restarted.

And for some reason, that made me decide to ;post up some pics of Liverpool manager repaints I've done recently:

I loved how this one turned out! I had a bit of bother with trying to fit the liver bird crest on it, and ended up both printing a smaller version, and having to thin those stripes a little!

As for these 2, I was skeptical about how they would end up, to be honest- they were originally in suits, but with a bit of filing here, and polyfilla there, I think they ended up looking pretty good.

For some reason, it's the sponsors on the back that I am really fond of on these 3!

Hurst, West Ham

West Ham are playing again tonight, so I thought I'd stick a couple of West Ham pics on the blog.

Geoff Hurst, home and away!

I was pleased with these- I've said many times that sometimes simpler kits are more effective... as long as you get the details just right eg shirt number fonts.

Incidentally, the bands round the middle of the away kit were straight- it's just the contours of the figure that made it look wonky on the pic. Honest!!

The guy who bought them was pleased too, commenting they were even better than the versions of this kit that Corinthian released. He was so delighted that he put them on ebay... cheeky beggar!! 

To be honest though, I don't mind- he paid me what I asked, it's up to him what he does with them next... I might not be so gracious if they end up selling for loads!!

Lampard, City

Thought I'd put this one up as City are playing today.

I think this is the third time I've done Lampard in City colours, though the first time with this sculpt.

The highlight is definitely the socks!!

Hutton, Spurs

Well, Premier League football is back, and being as I posted Man United pictures yesterday, I thought I'd better put some Spurs ones up today, to stay balanced!

I did the first one so long ago, that it's not even the house I lived in before this one! I also have learnt how to take a better picture since!

Both of these kits are quite plain, which means the hardest thing was probably applying the decals, which can be a fiddly business on soccerstarz!

Man Utd, Black Kit

Freshly posted off this week, here are a couple of Man Utd repaints:

First time I've painted this kit. It went alright!

Weirdly, I think my favourite bit is the blue triangle in the v-neck area! Having a colour in there is definitely preferable than having to dabble with skin tones, if the original figure had a colour in there!

McCall, Bradford

Here's my first ever Bradford City repaint:

Stuart McCall, complete with captain's armband!

I was happy with this one, and it's an interesting new kit I've not done before.

While this was the first Bradford one, the enthusiasm of the buyer makes me know it won't be the last!

Newport Subbuteo XL Figures, part 1

I did a blog post about some Wales XL Subbuteo figures a while back, and here are some Newport ones that were part of the same order.

You may notice a couple of... hair embellishments! I've not done them on subbuteo figures before these, but feel they turned out pretty well! 

And it wouldn't be a troupe of 1970s players without a couple of moustaches in there too!

Flo, Leeds

A few more Leeds figures to work thro!

Here are 2 versions of Tore Andre Flo:

The first is a Microstar, and is the kit from his first (half) season at Leeds... the season we went down. A couple of good memories in the last couple of blog posts...

You'll notice the second pic has a different sponsor- it's from his second season at Elland Road, aka, the -15 season. You may also notice that he committed the squad number sin of going from one in the 1-11 to number 19! Tut tut! 

Leeds Tonkas, 06-07

I think I've mentioned before that sometimes I get into a bit of a cycle of not posting pics here because I've had them for a long time, and so don't know if I've posted them... and so on.

So here are 2 Tonka figures that, having done a quick search of previous posts, I'm pretty sure I haven't posted before!

These were part of a project where one Leeds fan wanted me to paint every kit he'd seen them play in onto a Tonka Figure.

These were from a... not exactly vintage season; 06-07, when Leeds were relegated.

The players I chose to put on the kits were 2 of the only ones to emerge with any credit that season- Richard Cresswell and Eddie Lewis.

2 Wednesday keepers

Sheffield Wednesday are one of those teams I know I have plenty of un-blogged pictures of, so when I checked, and saw I hadn't done a Wednesday post for a while, that's what I went with today.

Even tho it's only Monday. Arf.

I went for 2 keepers!

I like both of these; Pressman just edging it in terms of my own personal preference; there are actually some pretty nice details on the arms and side of the shorts that you can't really see on this pic!

Apparently, Mark Crossley scored a goal for Forest wearing this kit! He was also wearing tights at the time, and I offered to paint those on, but the buyer preferred to leave them!!

PNE Beckham!

Here's a figure that is a good way of showing just how far I've come since starting!

One of the first more complex kits that I did for a friend was Becks in his PNE kit. I painted it way back in 2013. And while my friend was happy with it at the time, and I was, to be fair, it's not even in the same league as this one!

SWOON!

While, to be honest, I think the other figure I used is probably better suited to how he looked while on loan at Preston, this is a better sculpt.

And as for comparing the paintwork. Like I say, it shows how far I've come. The lines are just much cleaner and straighter,

I won't mention that I put the sponsor on the wrong way on this one, and had to change it!!

Sheringham Millwall

Beardsley, Carlisle

Just a quick one today. Peter Beardsley in his Carlisle stuff:

Those thin red and blue lines round his collar and cuffs: yes please!

The buyer of this one also requested the Admiral logos, you may have noticed, and extra detail on the ball.

There are a few other possible Carlisle repaints; as a Leeds fan myself, Ian Harte and Michael Bridges spring to mind!

The Next 3 Sheffield United Figures!

Each time I add a new blog post, I think: It's probably time for some more Sheff U figures...

And then I don't add them because I can't think how to categorise them/ remember which kits they're in.

So today, I've taken the revolutionary step of adding the first 3 alphabetically!!

Earl Barrett. Not the easiest figure to get hold of! Nice repaint... I think I've also done him in Sheff Weds colours(?!) I think my favourite part is the thin white stripes on the collar!

Peter Beagrie. All about the Umbro signs on the numbers! You know by now that that's the kind of thing that pleases me!

Henri Camara; one of several players that I wouldn't have known played for Sheffield United before repainting him. I mean, you could probably put the other 2 in this blog post in that category, to be fair!!
