Paulo Wanchope, Costa Rica.

This figure was part of the large Costa Rica order that I received a while back, but I felt that Paulo deserved an individual blog post!

This is in part due to the fact that the kit is different from the other Costa Rica repaints, but more due to the fact that he is legitimately a Costa Rica legend.

The chosen kit is that of the 2002 World Cup, in which Wanchope scored against Brazil

I like this one!

Costa Rica Keepers

Keylor Navas:

Patrick Pemberton:

The only reason behind the slight difference in kits is that google image searches returned more of Pemberton in black shorts and socks, and Navas in grey.

Saviola, Olympiakos!

My first Greek league repaint!

Here's Saviola in Olympiakos kit!

Pics soon also of Kostas Mitroglou, also in Olympiakos colours...

Apparently, he was quite good until he joined Fulham!

Smith, Leeds (away)

*This post has no intention of starting a raging Alan Smith debate*

Here's the second Alan Smith sculpt that Corinthian came up with. They did make one of him in Leeds colours, but it looked like this:

I know, right?!

So, I decided that I wanted to get hold of a Smith figure that looked much more like him (suspiciously one was produced when he moved over the Pennines) and put him into a different kit.

Much as it isn't very Leeds, and if I remember rightly, we didn't win a game in it, I really liked the dark blue pinstriped number of 03-04! I also chose it because a Leeds Smith was produced in the 02-03 kit; much the same as the 03-04 one, just with a different sponsor.

The level of detail (and therefore challenge) on the away kit also appealed to me.

And as it turns out, it's one of my favourite repaints that I've done- from collar, right down to boots!

"Hopwood" referee.

One of my more unusual requests, this one (tho not quite at the 'Ronaldinho- St Mirren' level)

A returning customer asked if I'd be willing to paint him as a ref! I was happy to, and, after seeing the price that Collina figures sometimes reached, we settled on this Microstar- my first one.

I was happy with how it turned out (and more importantly, so was my customer!) and while I was glad that the kit wasn't too complex, I'd be happy to paint more Microstars in future... Ricketts in Leeds kit, anyone?!

Deulofeu, Everton.

After a scour through a load of Corinthian images online, I found a pretty convincing lookalike figure for Everton's Barcelona loanee, Gerard Deulofeu.

The customer's review was that this (and the Barkley figure that I sent with it) was the 'best one yet!', and described the paint job as 'perfect'.

Always nice to hear things like that!

...This is probably the figure on which I have spell checked the name for the base more than any other!

Costa Rica, part 3!

Cristian Gamboa:

Cristopher Meneses:

Roy Miller:

I got a retweet and favourite from Gamboa when I sent him his picture, and got proper responses from Meneses.  He said it was "Really good, fantastic!"

And then this happened:

First time a player I've painted has followed me as a result!

(In case you missed them: Costa Rica part 1 and part 2)

Flo, Leeds.

Tore Andre Flo; one of those "He would have been a great signing 10 years ago" signings.

Or a "Jobs for the boys" signing, depending on your opinion.

He did chip in with a few goals, but was well past it by the time he arrived in LS11.

Fortunately, we had Beckford at the same time. And Kandol...

It has been joked that this repaint probably took longer to do than Flo spent on the pitch at Leeds. I have other players in the pipeline who actually hold that distinction!

Woodgate, Spurs.

Fan favourite figure spurs tottenham hotspur

Here's Woodgate, with his hair looking a good deal tidier than it ever did while he was at Spurs!

This is the first 'Fan Favourite' figure that I have painted. If that means nothing to you, it basically means that the figure is slightly different from the ProStars that I usually paint.

I have to say, I wasn't overly impressed by the quality of the figure. I didn't like the 'bobble-head' element, and it felt light and cheap. To say that these retailed at a higher price than ProStar figures is scandalous, as far as I'm concerned.

I had considered getting one of these Woodgates for my own Leeds collection, but having seen it first hand, I don't think I'll bother.
...
Anyway, it has been redeemed by my paint job!! The hooped socks in particular are a winner!

Costa Rica, part 2!

A while back, I received a massive order to do some Costa Rican players!

Being as there were so many of them, and they are all wearing the same kit (bar the goalies, and one legend) I decided to post these 3 at a time.

In case you missed it, set one can be found here

And here are the next 3:

Celso Borges:

Joel Campbell:

Kenny Cunningham:

Bit of news for these ones; I had quite a complimentary reply on twitter from Celso Borges:

While Joel Campbell posted the picture to his official facebook page, and it now has over 3,500 'likes'!

Barmby, Spurs

Here's Nicky Barmby, as he was for Spurs in the mid-90s.

Although this was a relatively simple kit, I like how it turned out.

...Not much else to say on the matter!
