Robbie Keane, Celtic

I have now repainted quite a lot of Robbie Keanes; the fact that he has played for teams supported by a lot of my returning customers (Leeds, Spurs and Celtic) and that there are several different sculpts of him has seen to that!

This figure is of him in a Celtic away kit... if I remember rightly, I think the customer said that Celtic didn't even wear this kit; he just liked it!

Anyway, here it is:

I've just noticed that the picture is entitled 'fantasy away kit'!

Fantasy kit or not, Keane really did play for Celtic!

He joined on loan in early 2010, and bagged 16 goals in 19 games in all competitions. He was also voted Celtic fans player of the year. Not bad for a half season loanee!

Rio Ferdinand x2, Leeds

My continuing trend of posting pics of 2 different figures of the same player at a time! The only thing slightly different this time, is that both of these are for my own collection!

Here we have a Soccerstarz Ferdinand:

Followed by a Microstar version:

The Soccerstarz one is based on Rio later in his career, but you know me; I'm on a quest to get all the different sculpts of players to have represented Leeds!

There were of course Prostar versions of Ferdinand in both of these kits, but he only played in 3 different kits while at Leeds. Keep your eyes out for a version of the yellow one on a Fan Favourite figure I recently acquired!

Barmby x2, Spurs

So, here is pretty much the exact same post I did the other day about Barmby figures, but this one is a Spurs version!

I didn't mention in the Leeds United version of this post that one of the figures was based on Barmby in his early career, and the other in his later years- see the haircuts!

While the collar is a bit obscured on the Microstar picture, the kits requested on these two were exactly the same- Spurs 1993-95.

Here's a pic to compare them to:

Bishop, Man City

It's time for another Man City play-off final repaint post!

Ian Bishop, who, on account of his number 14, I'm guessing came off the bench!

I've posted quite a few of these now, so I'm running out of things to say about the paint job!

...

My reason for posting this today? Yesterdays Tweet from Ian Bishop!

You can even see him in the kit on his Twitter profile pic!

Anderton, Bournemouth... again

Yeah... I did one exactly like this before and sold it on ebay.

The fact that it did, along with the fact that I had another Anderton in my spares is probably why I did it again!

And this sold on ebay too!

I think it's because of Anderton's relative high profile, his general inoffensiveness, and the spectacular 'Roy of the Rovers' style finish to his spell at his hometown club that make this figure appealing!

... If you don't know what that finish is, it's explained here.

Barmby, Leeds x2

Another double picture post! A Pro and a Micro of the same player; Nicky Barmby in his spell at Leeds United!
(Click to enlarg)

This first one is from Barmby's first season at Leeds... the time when, for a short while at least, he looked like he might be a decent signing!! He even scored on his debut! It was pretty much downhill from there!

Other than the different figure, there are only minor differences between this and the first one; Barmby's second season saw Leeds wear the same kit, but with a different sponsor, and saw Barmby himself move from shirt number 12 to number 7.

There were points when I wondered whether he should have been given more of a chance that season; sounds silly until you consider that he was competing with the likes of Sakho, Chapuis and Simon Johnson for a place!

Viduka and Di Canio, Celtic

I thought I'd put these two in the same post, being as the kits are more or less the same!

I did photograph these as I normally do, but have since had camera issues, so I only have pictures of the front of these two.

Anyway, here they are:

As you can see, the only difference is the sponsor. I really enjoyed painting these. I've enjoyed most of my Celtic ones, actually, largely due to the fact that my returning customer has a fondness for away kits, and Celtic have had some... let's say "interesting" ones!

Here's the CR Smith version, worn by Di Canio, and a couple of others:

Corradi, City.

Here's another City repaint.

No figure of Corradi was produced, so this one used a lookalike figure.

I don't really have much to say about it!

The shoulders are the best bit of this one!!

2 Gary Speeds.

As you may have noticed by looking at this blog, I'm a pretty big Leeds United fan.

Every fan has to have a favourite childhood player, and every fan also has to have their first favourite kit. That's where these 2 repaints come in.

Here are 2 different figures of my first favourite; Gary Speed, in the kit Leeds wore the year I got my first season ticket:

A Fan Favourite figure, and a Microstar.

I've also done a Prostar Speed repaint, but that was in the 1992 League Champions kit!

Go on Gary Speed, get one yourself son!

Kempes, Spurs away

A second large Spurs order means I have started replicating some of the repaints I did round about a year ago.

This is the second Mario Kempes I've done in Spurs kit (click here for the first) which I find quite amusing, considering he only played 2 games for them... neither of them competitive games!

He didn't even score in either friendly, in spite of one of them being a 7-0 win against non-league Enfield!!

He didn't have a bad career tho; 300 club goals in 552 games, and 20 in 43 for Argentina, including a World Cup golden boot!

Here he is with fellow Argentine Ardiles in one of his Spurs appearances.

Lineker, Spurs x2

A lot of talk about Wayne Rooney's exploits for England tonight. Well, here's one of the scorers he's recently overtaken... in a Spurs kit.

Tenuous.

Anyway, here are a couple of versions of Gary Lineker.

and

They're wearing the same kit, but I thought I'd put them both in this post, as they are slightly different figures (unless I'm mistaken)

Oh yeah, and I forgot to photograph the back of the first one!

Here's a photo of him to compare the kit to:

Adam, Blackpool away.

The third, and currently last of my Charlie Adam Blackpool repaints! (Want to order the 4th?! Get in touch!)

This is quite similar to the Play-off final Adam figure that I did... in fact if my memory is correct, the only difference is the font for the name and number on the back of the shirt!

Here's Adam celebrating a goal vs Man United!

Dickov and Edghill, Man City

Being as you've seen this kit a few times now, I've decided to put them up 2 at a time, in future.

From the Man City Play-off final of 1999, here are:

Wise and Poyet, Leeds Management

Here are a couple of remodels, of a Leeds United management team that divided opinion.

On the one hand, they took us down to the third tier for the first time in our history. On the other, they led us to the wiping out of the 15 point deficit, and an outstanding half a season of form in League 1.

Also both jumped ship at the first opportunity. Hm.

Anyway, these figures were for an order, and I remodelled the figures existing bodies with miliput, adding sweatshirts, and tracksuit pants for Wise.

I've had these figures myself, for quite a while, and have been undecided whether to do this to them, or to try putting their heads onto manager bodies. In their first season, they were very much tracksuit managers, before getting suited and booted in L1!

Anyway, I was pleased with these remodels. Wise maybe could have done with a bit more around the middle, but never mind!

I also like the initials that I put on the trackies!

Here's a pic of Wise at his cool and calm best.

Bridges, England U21s

Michael Bridges, who  turned out for England under-21s in his time at Leeds.

I fully believe that, if it weren't for his dreadful injury problems, Bridges would have been a full England international.

In his first season at Leeds, he got 21 goals in all competitions, but his contribution aside from goals was also excellent; his passing and vision giving him numerous assists and key contributions.

Such a shame that injuries hampered his career.

But back to the repaint... Michael Bridges himself had this to say:

Gough, Spurs

Here's a figure that I can already tell I'm not going to have much to say about!

Richard Gough, in his time at Spurs... to be honest, I don't even think I knew he played for Spurs before I was asked to paint it!

But he did.

Look:

I think I'm done.
