Hasselbaink Fan Fave, Leeds

Followers of this blog may well have already seen a few Hasselbaink figures done in Leeds colours.

Here's another!

This one differs in that it's wearing a different kit (98-99) and it's also a Fan Favourite figure.

Incidentally, it's also the first kneeling Fan Favourite that I've done! (I think I'm right in saying that I've done one or two kneeling Soccerstarz!)

The extremely thin yellow and blue stripes on the trim of this shirt were definitely the hardest part!

The real shirt also had Puma logos down the sleeve, but I decided against doing these; mainly to make it match the figures released in this kit!

Keep your eyes out for one more Hasselbaink figure that I've done! A Microstar in the yellow and blue halved away kit!

Weah, Man City away

Here's a second version of George Weah in his Man City days!

(If you want to see the home kit one, click here)

One of the things I like about this one is how well the badge shows up. This can be difficult to do well on striped shirts, so I was pleased with that.

As you may know by now, due to a boring technical problem I have, I'm not a fan of white numbers, but at least they show up on red better than they do on sky blue!

Alli, England

Being as it's the Euros...

...here's my Dele Alli repaint!

I had to use a 'lookalike' to make this figure, and, while it's not perfect, I thought it was a reasonable likeness!

Hopefully his performances in the tournament pick up, and then, maybe this will sell on ebay!

A slight difference between this kit, and many of my other repaints is that I included the kit manufacturer, Nike. I don't normally add these, but thought the kit looked pretty plain without them.

Come on England!

Gudjohnsen, Spurs

As it's Father's Day here in the UK, here are a little and large Gudjohnsen!

While neither of these figures is Gudjohnsen senior, I chose to post them today because Eidur famously got selected to play in the same International friendly as his father, thus making football history!

That fact doesn't really have anything to do with these repaints, as they are both in Spurs kits!!

I think I am right in saying this away kit was chosen because it was worn when Gudjohnsen scored the only goal he managed in his short spell at the club.

Pennant, Leeds

If I remember rightly, this is one of the first Microstar repaints I did for my own collection.

I started running out of Leeds related Prostar repaint options, and as there wasn't a Pennant Prostar, this seemed a logical place to start!

Way back in 2003-04, when Leeds were still a top-flight side, Jermaine Pennant spent a season on loan at Elland Road, and was actually one of the more consistent performers in what was, admittedly a poor team!

He played 36 times for Leeds, and scored twice.

I tweeted a pic of this figure to Jermaine, and this is what he had to say:

Collins, Celtic

Compared to some of the recent Celtic repaints, this kit is positively tame!!

A plain old black with green pinstripes was relatively straightforward in comparison to the white with yellow and green swooshes, or the mint green, grey and white zig zaggy number!!

I like the Umbro font numbers on the back too!

Here's the kit, a la historical kits:

Keane, Forest

Here's the last of my recent trio of Nottingham Forest repaints!

This is the same kit I painted on a Teddy Sheringham figure. Note the lack of a name on the back of the shirt; it was 93-94 before squad numbers were assigned, and names were printed on shirts in the Premier League.

The only other job for this figure was giving it a shave! I was surprised how much more it looked like Keane after I painted over the beard!

Here's a pic of a fresh face Keane, in his Forest days:

Ledley King, Testimonial

In a line I thought I'd never start a blog post with, my Nan saw pictures of some Ledley King figures I did, and requested one herself!

Here it is:

The other figure I did was actually a Soccerstarz, but I thought I'd do my Nan a prostar figure; partly to make it match her Defoe figure, and partly to allow a greater level of detail!

I think this may actually be a contender for most detailed figure I've done; notice that aside from the usual shirt sponsor and badges, I've also put on the kit maker logo, a captains band and the embroidery that was added to the middle of the shirt for King's testimonial... although it's too small to read!

It also has small checks of lighter blue on the shoulders, but you can't rally see them on this pic!

Here's a pic from the testimonial to compare it to:

Le Saux, Wembley FC

This Le Saux figure is my second Wembley FC repaint!

There could be more coming, as Wembley had a number of former Premier League (and Corinthianified) players appear for them in what was basically a glorified publicity stunt: get Wembley to Wembley!

I don't know how many games Le Saux played for Wembley, but they didn't quite make it to Wembley Stadium... they got knocked out of the cup by Uxbridge!

Graeme must have thought this repaint was ok, has he 'liked' it on Twitter!

Poyet, Leeds (player)

In a move that certainly did not smack of desperation, then Leeds manager Dennis Wise played his 40(ish) year old assistant manager in central midfield in a mid-season friendly game, reportedly to see if he would be good enough to cut it in the Championship.

To be fair to Wise, his alternatives included Ian Westlake and Kevin Nicholls...

Anyway, the result of this... experiment may have looked a little like this:

I've done this kit a few times before, so it held no real difficulties.

A bit of research showed that he did wear his favoured number 8 shirt in the match. I chose to leave the name off, as it probably would have been for a friendly.

In case you're unfamiliar with the kit:

As far as I'm aware, there are no pictures of Poyet from this friendly game, so I've settled for one of Alan Thompson!

Immobile, Torino

It's been a while since I did a Torino figure! He's Ciro Immobile!

This was a pretty straightforward repaint- as with the previous Torino ones, I think the key was to mix up the paint for their distinctive shirt colour correctly!

I don't have much else to say about it, really!

Here's a pic to compare it to:

Clichy, City

Here's Gael Clichy in a rather bright Man City away kit!

I nearly always enjoy doing new kits, and it was safe to say I'd never done this one before!

I had to mix colours to get the yellow as bright as possible, and also had to do a bit of scouting around to find good images to use as transfers for the badges!

Another extra on this one was painting the beard! I was surprised how much more like Clichy it looked once I'd added this!

Grant, Celtic

The latest Celtic repaint:

I had to google his name to know that this was Peter Grant!

The kit chosen was another away number: Celtic's 3rd kit from 1994-95.

I was pleased with how it turned out! Not overly difficult, but enough to be an interesting challenge to paint!

Keep your eye out for another player in this kit soon!

Here's a pic of the shirt to compare the repaint to:

Hemper, Spurs

Here's another 'lookalike' figure that was actually a Christmas present... it's just taken me a while to get round to posting the picture here!

Quite ironic that the Spurs fan recipient of this figure looks like one of Arsenal's greatest...!

Someone contacted me with a request for a figure of one of his mates, for a gift.

Through the messenger feature on my Facebook page, we discussed who he'd like as the figure, as well as his choices for the kit, the name and the shirt number.

If you'd like a similar service, just message me on Facebook, or Twitter!

Collymore, Forest

Here's Stan Collymore in the kit from Forest's first season back in the Premiership.

Collymore was great that year; his performances paved the way for his big money move to Liverpool.

He was recently voted into Forest's all time greatest XI.

This is the 2nd Forest repaint I've put up on the blog from the three that I did recently. Keep your eyes out for the third!

Turnbull, Leeds

Here's Ross Turnbull:

Turnbull has a Champions League winners medal, Two FA Cup medals, and a Europa League medal from his time at Chelsea, but has only mustered one competitive start at Leeds!

He wasn't even on the winning side in his one Leeds game: a League Cup exit at the hands of Doncaster!
