Musampa, City

I love this sculpt!

I used it as a lookalike figure myself, to add a Habib Habibou figure to my Leeds collection!

It's also been used as a lookalike here, to recreate Man City's Kiki Musampa.

This is the first time I've painted this dark blue away kit, and I think it came out pretty well.

The dreadlocks meant that I couldn't fit the name on, without the no.14 looking too small, hence the nameless shirt!

"Green", Man Utd

Here's a 'lookalike' repaint that I did as a novelty birthday present recently!

Someone contacted me with a picture of a loved one and asked if I could do a figure as them.

As part of the service, I found a shortlist of possible 'lookalikes' and along with the customer discussed which one was best, and which details (hair colour, eye colour, beard etc) needed to be changed.

She asked for his preferred kit, shirt number and boots too.

You can see the result above!

The customer was really pleased with it, so I was pleased too!

The only downside? He was a Man United fan!!

In case you're unsure of what the real kit looks like, here it is:

Larsson, Barcelona x2

These repaints are the latest in the 'series' requested by a big Larsson fan, attempting to chronicle his whole career in corinthian form!

While there were many Celtic figures of him released, last month saw me repaint him in Feyenoord away kit, and this month, a couple of Barcelona!

I think he has a few more planned too!

I was glad that Larsson did well at Barcelona, while his record at Celtic was incredible, I think this move, and his roughly 1 in 3 goal ratio while there helped to put to bed the idea that he couldn't do it in a better league.

Roy Keane, Celtic

Here's Roy Keane.

He's in Celtic away kit.

I don't like him very much.
...
But the repaint is good!

Walters and Hardaker, Leeds Rhinos

I've been doing a few more rugby figures in recent times! Here are a couple of Leeds Rhinos players!

The main difference I've found with painting rugby figures, is that the poses can lead to problems with fitting everything on that you need to... not helped by the fact that Rugby League kits tend to have about 20,000 sponsors!

I think these turned out well in the end tho! I particularly enjoyed the beards!!

England, World Cup '98 keepers!

The position of understudy to David Seaman was an unfortunate one for these 2 keepers; neither got many opportunities with the Arsenal number one rarely slipping up in his international career.

Nonetheless, both were in England's squad for France '98.

Being a Leeds fan, I always felt sorry for Nigel Martyn. In a different era, he would have got way more international caps.

Here's a sight that both of these 2 were used to: Seaman in the number 1 shirt!

Danny Mills x2, Leeds

I've already done a couple of posts of figures of Danny Mills; a Prostar and a Fan Favourite figure, both for my own collection.

This post completes my own set of Mills, with the Microstar, and also showcases a second Prostar figure for a customer.

I chose the blue kit for the first figure because my own collection already includes figures of Mills in white and yellow. This is also the kit in which he scored his best goal for Leeds; a left footed long range piledriver against Bolton!

For the customer, who just requested 'home kits' on a batch of Leeds figures he sent me, I went with the 2000-02 Strongbow kit worn by Leeds in the Champions League. This competition saw some of Mills' finest performances in his time at Elland Road.

McNeill, Celtic

To be honest, I don't know a lot about Billy McNeill. A quick wiki search has informed me that he was the captain in Celtic's historic 'Lisbon Lions' side, and to be honest that's enough fact finding for this post!

As for the repaint, an away kit was chosen for this one.

You'll also notice Celtic's trademark numbered shorts, rather than shirt!

As for the clover badge; a quick scan of historicalkits indicates that they used it on from the late 40s to the mid 60s.

Wiekens and Whitley, Man City

I think I've talked about the Man City play-off final enough in previous posts of repaints of this kit, so without further ado, here are Whitley and Wiekens, made using lookalike figures!

Bowyer, England

"Bowyer for England" was a chant that echoed around Elland Road numerous times in the midfielders spell at Leeds.

His off the field problems meant that Bowyer was unavailable for selection for England at the time he was in his best form- in many people's eyes, a time when, solely based on football, he merited a place.

In the end, he only got one cap... which was enough to make one Leeds fan ask me to repaint this!

It was one of those times where I got the chance to measure my work against the mass produced Corinthian figures, as several were produced in this kit. I think my work stands up!

Here is Bowyer in his one and only full international appearance appearance:

A couple of Cantonas, Leeds

As the title says, here are a pair of Leeds United Cantona repaints!

These kits are actually from 2 different seasons; the yellow away kit is from 1991-92; Leeds' title winning season, and is the kit Leeds were wearing on the day the title win was confirmed away at Sheffield United

I'm pretty sure Cantona wasn't wearing number 7 that day, as I think he came on as sub, but 7 was the number this customer wanted.

The white shirt is actually from the season after; the first ever Premier League season. Cantona made a flying start, and scored the Premier League's first hat trick, against Spurs, but eventually fell out with Wilko, and was sold to... someone.

Here are some pics of the kits to compare the repaints to:

Lombardo, Juve

Attilio Lombardo; the bald eagle! Perhaps best known in the UK for his ill-fated spell as player manager at Crystal Palace!

I didn't even know he played for Juventus!

I enjoyed doing this repaint!

While it's of a big player for a big club, it still felt a bit different to me; maybe because I don't do all that many Serie A repaints.

Here's a pic of the real kit to compare it to:

Ziege x2, Spurs

Here we have 2 repaints of Spurs German left back Christian Ziege, one Microstar, one Prostar.

As you can see, they're both in the same kit, about which one thing instantly strikes me: Adidas stripes! Often tricky to paint, especially on Microstars... you can't actually see them properly on these pictures!

I'll just tell you that I was satisfied with them!

Here's Ziege:

Just for the record, neither customer asked me to darken the hair of the figure!

Sinclair, Man City

A fairly simple repaint, this one.

If you're a regular reader of this blog, you'll know I'm not a big fan of white numbers on light blue shirts, but feel it came out pretty well on this one!

Sinclair himself liked the repaint enough to favourite a picture of it on twitter!

Dalglish, Celtic

Time for a pic of a bonafide Celtic legend!

Kenny Dalglish played 204 games for Celtic, and scored 112 goals (according to wiki)

Celtic's own Wiki boasts that Dalglish is one of the finest players that Britain has produced, and I'm sure Liverpool fans would agree!

I was glad that my regular customer (who has a fondness for away kits) asked for this to be done in a home shirt! It just seemed more fitting somehow!

Here's a pic of Kenny to compare it to:

A couple of key differences between the pic and the repaint;
1. The number- 7 was requested
2. The socks- I understand that Celtic wore red socks for some European Cup matches in the 70s!
