Atouba, Spurs

Who wants to see a repaint of a Spurs player that I know basically nothing about?!

Timmy Atouba!

Erm... he's wearing yellow!

I think this is the shirt he scored his only Spurs goal in.

*Googles*

He played for them 18 times in a year long spell at White Hart Lane.

Hart, Blackpool

You might not know this, but Joe Hart once had a loan spell at Blackpool!

Here he is!

A fairly simple kit, this one... but as for the white writing for the sponsor... grrr!

The kit made up for it by having a black number and name on the back!!

The Coca-Cola League badge definitely adds to this one too!

Hart played 5 games on loan at Blackpool, while they were challenging for promotion from League 1 (I think!) They won all 5 games in which he appeared!

Not bad for a youngster signed solely because of an injury crisis!

Scales, Leeds

As you may know, I'm having to think obscure for any Leeds related Prostar repaints these days!

With that in mind:

Here's John Scales, who never played a first team game for Leeds!

This is nothing to do with him nearly signing for us in the mid-90s.

I found out on Wikipedia that he was at Leeds from 1984-85. His stats read: Games 0, Goals 0... but he must have played a few reserve games, right?!

Fortunately, soon after painting this, I saw Scales' name on a reserves team-sheet that Football Memorabilia posted on twitter.

Unfortunately, I chose a different shirt number to the one on the only direct piece of Scales/Leeds evidence I have seen! Maybe he wore number 6 in another game!

Here it is!

Anelka, City

Love this one!

Nicola Anelka here in an away kit from his Man City days.

One of the tougher things about repainting striped kits is getting the decals with the name and number, sponsor etc exactly right. When you pull it off, it looks great!

This one, in my opinion, looks great!!

More importantly, the customer agreed, saying that this was one of his favourites from the recent batch!

Here's the shirt:

Austin, Southampton

My latest Soccerstarz repaint is Charlie Austin, in Southampton colours!

...What is it with green away kits this season?!

I imagine this kit was chosen for this repaint partly because there is a good chance a home Southampton version will be released in future, but perhaps even more because Austin wore this kit for his Saints debut... a debut in which he scored the winning goal against Man U!

Decals are always a bit fiddly when it comes to soccerstarz size figures, but fortunately, the green version of the Southampton badge fit perfectly into the blue sash that I'd painted on!

Here's a pic from Austin's debut:

Parker x2, Spurs

Well, I've done a Parker FF figure before, but here are a pair of microstars!

If you want any figures repainted to your own specifications, leave a comment, or get me on facebook or twitter!

...

In case you were wondering, it's pretty late, and I don't have all that much to say about these figures!!

Seaman... Wembley

In what was basically a publicity stunt, David Seaman once signed up for Wembley FC.

So, thinking it might attract a bit of interest, I painted this:

Seaman was one of a group of ex-pros to sign for non-league Wembley (who were sponsored by Budweiser) in their attempt to reach Wembley in the final of the FA Cup (sponsored by Budweiser) Weird, no?

Some of the other players signed included Cannigia, Parlour and Le Saux

This was a relatively straightforward repaint, but along with my Graeme Le Saux repaint (pics soon) it attracted the attention of Wembley FC when I put it on twitter:

Talks have started, and may include repaints of some of the other ex-pros!

If you want to know more about the whole thing, here's the BBC's take on the events.

A pair of Micro Leeds keepers!

Ah, for the days when we were absolutely spoilt for choice in goal!

Here are Nigel Martyn and Paul Robinson:

Tho plenty of Prostar size Martyn figures were released, there was no Leeds microstar, hence the repaint. I chose the Champions League season kit, partly because he excelled in it (although he did that every season to be fair) but also because it is a different kit to any of the official releases.

Robinson, on the other hand, was released in Leeds kit as a microstar! I found that out after painting this! fortunately it was in a different kit. This is the one he scored a goal in, against Swindon in the League cup. Great moment... tho needing a last minute equaliser against Swindon wasn't great!

Robben, Bayern

I've only done 4 Soccerserie figures in total, and two of them have been Robben!

Here's the second one:

This one was a simpler kit than the first, but still looks great in my humble opinion!

The main problem I had with it was that the red paint I had bought was really thin, for some reason! It was solved by an extra coat or two, and careful placement of the figure when it was drying!

I was also pleased that I had the stand available to use for the photo of this one, and the Klose figure; it looked better than with just me holding it by one of the feet!

Ok... so the figure has a little too much hair!

Sagna, City

Bacary Sagna, in Man City's current away kit!

He's had a haircut since, of course, but never mind that!

I was very pleased with this one; it was one of those times where a really simple kit, done well, ends up looking really effective.

...And dark kits like this are one of the few places where I like white numbers!

Kane, Spurs... keeper?!

Bit of an unusual request, this one, but evidently one I was happy to do!

In a Europa League game against Asteras Tripolis, Hugo Lloris ended up getting sent off and Kane was the man who ended up going in goal.

He even had to wear Lloris' shirt, as you can see with his name and number 1 on the repaint! This must be the first one I've had to do with a different name to the player on the back!

He still has his own number 18 on the shorts of the outfield kit!

While in goal, Kane conceded one goal, but I'm sure Spurs fans won't mind, as he'd already scored a hat trick at the other end!

Giggs, Team GB

I did this ages ago!

I did a Team GB Giggs when I had just started repainting for a couple of reasons; 1. As a challenge, and 2. To generate a bit of interest in my repaints!

It worked, as that first one sold due to an enquiry on my facebook page, and when someone else saw if, they asked me to do another one!

And the above picture is the result!

I also painted Craig Bellamy in the same kit. I never did get round to doing one of Micah Richards!

Robinson, Leeds FF

This figure came about through my desire to own all the players that represented Leeds in their various forms, be they Prostars, Microstars, Soccerstarz or Fan Favourites.

There were, of course, Leeds Prostars and Microstars of Robinson already produced by Corinthian, but when I discovered this version of him, I needed to repaint it for my collection!

The kit I went for was from Robinson's debut. Nigel Martyn had picked up an injury, so a slender teenage Robinson came in and put in a Man of the Match performance against Chelsea.

This also explains why he is wearing number 36, in case anyone was wondering! Our regular second choice, Mark Beeney, was also injured, which was why Robinson got the opportunity.

I can't find one of Robinson in it, so here's a pic of just the shirt, taken from theleedsunitedcollection.co.uk

SWP, Man City

Here's another Man City repaint; Shaun Wright-Phillips!

If you follow my blog, you'll know I enjoy painting different and unusual kits. Well, this is the first time I've done a silver kit, so that's definitely different!

You may also know that I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to precise number fonts for the back of shirts. This was the first time I found the pre-2005 Football League font. This pleased me more than it should have!

Here's SWP in the kit in real life
