3 Le Tiss away kits

I've gained a couple of new regulars over the last year or so, who are Southampton fans, and as a result, hears the unlikely prospect of 3 Matt le Tiss repaints, with only the slightest hint of red and white in sight!

The middle and bottom pics were kits that I hesitated with a bit, when I was first asked to do them. But, when I had a think, and more importantly a try at them, they weren't as intimidating as I first thought- particularly when I settled for getting the feel, rather than trying to attempt the exact pattern!

The top pic was much easier by comparison, but does feature a few of those hummel chevrons. The biggest challenge with them is always getting them consistent sizes, especially when you can't look at both sleeves at the same time!

A Sheffield United Trio

Hard to believe I'm almost at the end of the Sheffield United pics now! However, the guy that I did most of them for has been back in contact recently, asking if there are any other possibilities... and I've got 5 or 6 ideas!

Shipperley- difficult to get hold of, and then when you do, and repaint it gloriously, the first comment when it goes online is: looks more like Jimmy Carr. To be fair...

Yep... I'd rather keep Gary Speed in Leeds colours, tbh!

Last but not least, another rare-ish one, I think. Phil Thompson. Tricky badge on this (and a couple of other Sheff United figures. No shield or crest round it, just crossed blades and 'Sheffield United' straight on the shirt. Meant I had to be more precise with the decals than usual! Think I pulled it off tho!

He's our Centre half, he's our number...5

I posted 2 home kit Celtic van Dijks a good few weeks ago now, with the promise of some away kits. Here they are!

While I quite like all the kits you see here, i'll level with you and say: I'm  not bothered if i never paint another Kodoto figure again!!

They are different from corinthians in that they have moving heads and arms,, which I tried to 'cover all angles' with, but the paint would often crack around the joins. I the end, I just asked the buyer what he thought... and whether he had any intention of ever moving the arms!!

He said he was happy for me to glue them still if I wanted!!

Aaaaand, unless I'm mistaken, that's every kit VVD ever wore at celtic, done!

2 Peacocks! QPR

These 2 were part of a big batch of QPR figures, and, I'll level with you; I didn't even realise that they were both Peacocks until I saved them to my laptop, and had to name them!

I think it might be because neither of them had names on their shirts.

The kind of things that interest me when comparing these 2 kits are some fairly major differences (well major to a bit of a kit nerd like me!)

The main one is that the shade of blue was completely different (I checked with the buyer that he wa happy with the top one- I just didn't remember it being so much lighter!)

Also, the change of the number colour from black to red. I think QPR traditionally used red. I think they also usually tend towards hooped sleeves, but there is a slight possibility that I'm just making that bit up!

Plenty more QPR pics to come. To be honest, they could have featured on this post, but I just wanted to call this post 2 peacocks!

Mixed Leeds figures:

First of all, I thought I'd let you know that this blog has gone past 100 000 views! Which obviously is not crazy numbers, but is certainly more than I would have anticipated when I first started painting for my own amusement all those years ago!

Thanks for the views, comments, 'likes', support, and of course, purchases!

And I suppose it's fitting that, before I even realised I had reached this milestone, I'd planned to post Leeds United figures here today; the first team I ever painted.

I thought I'd go with another variety bag of a post today! Starting with Leeds' current top scorer, Patrick Bamford in funko form!!

This is in the Championship promotion kit, as part of a whole team set that I did for someone. Funny to think that Bamford came in for quite a lot of stick that year, and is now sat on 10 Premier League goals in half a season.

Next up, Nick Barmby. I used the later sculpt of Barmby for my own collection, as it seemed a better likeness of when he played for us. But the guy who asked for this one showed me a pic of Barmby in the 03-04 season, where he had gone back to having slightly longer hair. And took the number 7 shirt too.

Hard to know if it was just speculation, but there was a lot of talk that James Beattie had a big role in getting the 30 goal a season form out of Chris Wood, in his spell as a coach at Leeds.

I was very happy with this remodel. I also did a microstar one, which you can check out by clicking here.

Last but not least, a standard microstar repaint, from way back when. When I did a Prostar Christie for my own collection, I put it in number 27... it's still on my shelf as a lesson to make sure I research properly!

Sheff Weds, the next 3:

Quick blog post before I dash off to work!

If you follow this blog fairly regularly, chances are, you've seen at least 2 other Sheffield Wednesday Di Canio repaints!

Yeah... I don't really remember him either.

And last but not least, another Sheff Wed Funko. This one involved a head swap, and the reason I tell you that is, firstly so you don't sit there wondering which player this was originally, and secondly, cos I find the source of the head quite amusing.

Ready?! It's the Mountain from Game of Thrones!! Just like Steven Fletcher!!

3 More Spurs

Keeping on my blog post momentum with 3 Spurs figures! Not taking the time to pick a theme, and just going with alphabetical order seems to have helped me keep going, and it usually means a variety of kits in the same post!

Berbatovs can be pretty difficult to get hold of, and so to put one in a kit he wore for a testimonial game takes a certain kind of collector! I was happy with the bit at the bottom of the shirt; also the tiny bit of test in the middle came out well.

I suppose every repainter has this when looking back at figures, but I can't help but look at this one and think how much better I'd do it now!! It's from 2 or 3 years ago, I'd guess. Maybe more.

I feel like it is acceptable, btw, just not perfect... which is what I aim for now more than I ever had the ability to do at that stage.

Last but not least, a Carrick Microstar. The main thing I think when I look at this one is: I'm much better at photographing them now!!

May be to do with the quality of camera on my phone, tbf!!

Everton 2000-02

I thought I'd go with some Everton figures today. For some reason, I didn't save a picture of them all together, so there are 6 separate ones!!

When doing a set like this, I find one of the most important things is ensuring that the details match- eg the bits under the arms, thin lines etc, and sometimes the different body poses mean it takes a little thought.

I find it interesting which players people find important enough to choose 'lookalikes' of. I wouldn't have had Steve Watson down as crucial, but I think the collector that ordered these is something of a completist!

The original is Lars Bohinen, btw.

This is the second rare-ish Campbell I've done for this collector... and rarer to come!!

Yep, it's a Pembridge!! I think he has another to do in future as well!

I think I've spoken about this before, but when it comes to rare figures, I'm of the mindset that: he paid for it, he can do what he likes!

That's why I repainted Haaland, Alan Wright and Sheridan for my own collection, and also added crests and sponsors to my unreleased David White.

Naysmith,.. see comment re: Watson. The lookalike is Hleb.

I'm only writing here cos I feel I have to after commenting individually on all the others.

Aaaaand, we're done!

3 Real Madrid Legends...

I thought I'd plough on with the posts, and use my alphabetical order system when I can't be bothered to think of any kind of theme!

If you are wondering about the ellipsis after 'legends' in the title, you'll understand half way through the post...

Roberto Carlos can, I dare say, be classed as a Real legend. He was a galactico, anyway! I remember that, when I did this one, I was most pleased with the paw prints on the sleeves. Though I still have no idea why there were pawprints down the sleeves.

Here he is; one of the most bizarre signings Real ever made! But who was a more random recruit; Gravesen or Faubert?! Answers in the comments!

Anyway, I ended up with this microstar, and thought if I painted it into Madrid kit, someone might buy it on ebay, for novelty value if nothing else.

No one did.

Last but not least, a far more recent repaint of McManaman, Champions League final kit. Lovely!

Spurs- Mixed Bag

As the post title suggests, I thought I'd just post a real mixture of Spurs figures today!

From the Spurs section in my repaints album, here are the first 4 alphabetically. I think this may be the way to go, when it comes to posting up some of the backlog!

Anderton, away. The neatness of the lines round the collar and the fact that i feel like I actually remember this one would suggest it's at least recent-ish!

As for these next 2, the background is a bit of a clue that I did these a while back- I've long since found the best place to take the pictures in my flat for good lighting!!

And another recent one, and second Bale of the post, though in very different form!! I did this one as I thought it would go down well, and I managed to get the original figure reasonably cheaply!

After putting it on my Instagram, I ended up sending this to a Spurs fan in the USA!

I do have one more Bale funko, but feel Bale's lack of minutes on the pitch might make it a bit of a risk with regards to selling afterwards. Thinking about the sale, and just doing another different figure that interests me, Wales 2016 comes to mind...

Liverpool 91-92

Well, who'd have thought?! Liverpool have just lost at home for the first time since dinosaurs roamed the earth, and it was against Burnley of all people.

Now would seem a good time to post a Burnley picture... but I'm pretty sure I've only ever done 2, and they are already on the blog.

So... here are some Liverpool figures instead. I decided to use this picture so I wouldn't have to add photo information to loads of separate ones whilst writing the blog post.

I mean, it is almost 11 O'Clock, on a school night!!

I quite enjoyed this kit in the end, though the differing arm/shoulder positions mean it's not easy to get them consistent across all the figures.

Leeds away 1999-2000

Well, Leeds were pretty dismal yesterday, and I'm finding that harder to cope with during lockdown- when watching the football is pretty much what my weekend is directed towards. Very different watching on TV how the experience would normally go.

Anyway, I thought I'd cheer myself up with pics of a few Leeds repaints in one of my favourite kits!

These are all relatively recent ones.

I don't really have much else to add!

Fowler through the ages... part 1

Right... lets get a head of steam going!! Here are some Robbie Fowlers:

As you can see, the guy I did these for chose the first sculpt of Fowler for these ones. Maybe he thinks it is a better likeness of him in his early career? I much prefer the second version. Don't worry; you'll see them!

(If you just can't wait, get over to my facebook page to have a look)

I was happy with these. The yellow one in particular looks nice and sharp!

Haaland, Forest

Hi friends, and a belated happy new year! Sorry it's been a while- I didn't take my laptop with me when I went away for a few days for Christmas.

And after my busiest ever year repainting figures, I felt it was time for a couple of weeks off!

I'm back, refreshed now tho, and thought I'd start the new year with a bang!

For those not in the know- Haaland is a difficult figure to get hold of! I've done him in City and Leeds kits before, but always felt there was a good chance I'd do him in Forest colours!

This was the final part of a full set in this kit!
